there is nothing really new in any of the games u mentioned... just improvements... also a game does not have to be new to be good....
Some people enjoy the series, some don't. We all have to accept that and that our opinions are not based in fact. Outside of SW everyone's opinion is equally worthless.

What did I expect? Look at the thread title and maybe guess from there. I simply want to know what's so good about Halo 3. I gave my opinion in my post, and was hoping somebody might be able to show me what's great about this game. Sure, pretty graphics, some cool new weapons, new campaign, but besides being good, there's nothing spectacular, like I said, that will blow you away. I'm not going to bother defending Crysis or Bioshock, since those are pretty obvious at first glance.

To the point where if the entire game of halo 3 was under a different name and a new IP, and that nobody knew it had any ties with the other two, that most people wouldnt give it a second thought, rather it just being another average FPS

I agree. It has a big name to live up to, since back when Halo 2 came out it was incredible. But when you compare this to most FPS out there, it doesn't seem much different, or better in any way. I'll rent it, of course, but it's over-hyped. It'll be good, but not great.

Hey alriigghhtt, another random opinion on Gamespot that the owner thinks is thread-worthy. Here's the thing...every major review publication on both the internet and in print thinks that both Halos were fantastic games and that the 3rd will be more of the same, your opinion = nothing.

You can't guarantee that. I'm not saying Halo 3 is horrible. I said it will be a good game. I'll rent it maybe. But as far as I'm concerned, I have trouble understanding how it could get something like a 9.5 like others predict. From what I see so far, I'd give it a maximum of 8.5, and that's still a good score. But no, it will not crush other games coming out this year. It will sell good, but in the end I'm pretty sure that most people will leave Halo 3 alone for the other shooters out this year. Maybe what I'm saying is just because of all the other great shooters coming out. But either way, like I said, besides it being good, nothing amazing about it. I haven't played yet, so what I'm saying could change, that's just how I feel about it right now.

My mom is Scot-Irish and german. She could speak it when she was younger, even though she was born in San Diego, and I picked up some because I like the language and it's in my blood. Sooo, I wouldn't say FLUENT, but I could get by fairly well if I were in Germany.

not everyone can own a 5000 dollar PC that can run Crysis like you. You are in the .01 percentile and yes I probably would run Crysis on Ultra at the craziest highest resolution and brag about it too if i could afford it.

It doesn't seek to innovate(especially not at this point) so much as use it's solid foundations to create a very enjoyable game. Also, it has a deep, well-presented story. Not every game has to do something new to be good.

games dont have to do something compeltely out of the ordinary or new to be great, PDZ great example, that did absolutly NOTHING new but just be fun (its actually a 50/50 but GS scored it 9.0)

I've played both. I've enjoyed both. And I don't feel like I'm going to enjoy Halo 3 very much. That is all.
Others will definitely enjoy Halo 3 despite your opinion. The game doesn't make my jaw drop with awe like other first-person shooters; I'll probably like some of the other shooters that do things differently a lot more. But that won't stop others from enjoying Halo 3 to quite an extent or me having fun with the game.
