lol, hit box....the "hit box" is dependent on what weapon you have...sniper, small "hit box" SMG large "hit box." In the latest Halo 3 video, the "hit box" does seem smaller on the Assault Rifle from Halo to Halo 3.jfkunrendered
The crosshairs on the AR are smaller then the hairs in CE, I'm watching the ViDoc now and I'll tell you about the BR in a couple seconds.Bansheesdie
The BR crosshair is also smaller then in Halo 2.
I hope so. Although the larger hit boxes in Halo 2 never really stopped me from having fun, it would be nice to have them smaller again.smokeydabear076
No, i mean the area around the player's model onscreen, where the projectile has to land to damage a player. In halo CE for example, you actually had to hit the player's model, in Halo 2 you could land a shot, something like 50cm around the actual model itself and still deal damage to the player.Doom_HellKnight
oh, I see.
Well...I don't know...that has never bothered me.
I am expecting the Halo 3 multiplayer to turn out in one of two ways.
1) It will return to the skill driven experience that was Halo CE with all the new gameplay elements.
-or-
2) They will nerf the game even further in an attempt to attract a larger casual crowd.
If they do return to the Halo CE realm I may rent the game... if I ever buy a 360...foxhound_fox
3) They go for a happy medium?
I'd expect it to go in the way of #2, but that is why Halo 2 multiplayer is so popular anyway, the large hitboxes and aim assist make new players think they are pulling off some great shots, drawing them into the game. Everyone likes to get a headshot from across the map.
You can take that as a good thing, or a bad thing. I'm not fussed to be honest. If there is an advantage in the game, its an advantage everyone has, and the most skilled players will seek out how to use those advantages best.
Watch this video, it has a bit about the enlarged hitbox.

crosshair, not hitbox. That vid is so stupid, it was made by some noob who got owned so much in Halo 2 that he cried untill he made a movie.
Are you talking about Halo 2 or Halo 3 in this thread?
Im pretty sure the area needed to damage the persons body is just that, the persons body.FancyKetchup25No its always bigger then the persons body.Â

But I agree with coolguy though, Hitboxes in console games are often too large.Doom_HellKnight
It comes with the territory. Analogue stick just aren't pixel accurate. If new players playing a console FPS can't hit a damn thing then I very much doubt they will have any fun.

In the attemopt with the battle rifle, he has the guy dead before we even get a chance to see where he placed the crosshair.
in the last attempt with the guy jumping, he uses the a regular pistol to demonstrate whatevertf he's trying to do, then switches to a plasma pistol which has homing properties, and tries to make up some foolishness about hitbox size using a homing weapon.
 fail.Â

you mean aimassist?
I doubt they will remove it since lots of Console games tend to have.

There goes the argument for consoles > PC games in skill.
I hope they do fix the hit boxes. Halo had much better gameplay mechanics than Halo 2, with out the new features of Boarding and Dual weilding I would say Halo had a resoundingly better MP.
I also hope they take away the gun butt lock on. It's so horrid, and most of the time you don't need to face the enemy straight on to hit them.Â
Please bring it back to Halo 1's gameplay mechanics Bungie!!!!!
It's not so much the Controller as it is the Console Fan-base the minority of them are Casual, so the devs make the game casual friendly aka Huge hit boxes and crappy auto aim. There are a few games that are not plagued buy this casual effect, the ones i know of are Halo and the morjorty of FPS PC ports, those games take time and skilzz on a controller to master.Citizen_Zero
I think you're wrong. Its got much more to do with the controller than it has the platform.
