COD4 is a walk in the park for any 40+ rank halo player. I just got the game 2 days ago and in my frist Match scored 27 kills with 6 deaths and not long after got a 23 kill streak camping behind a trash can in Bog just waiting for ppl to come out of the restaurant. And to make things even more easy most of your kills come off air strikes and the chopper...o yea and random nads. The maps are small making it easy to corner your enemy's and this is also made easier with the fact that most of the time you will spawn where the majority of your teamates are. COD 4 takes no real skill to achieve the games highest rank which is not the case in halo3 COD4 match making sucks! it will often place you in games that have been in session for quite some time. It can put you in FFA's were the top scorer is 2 kills away from winning. Of course you can't win, and it counts as a loss on your record. It also depends way to much on the host and his connection and if he quits the game is over. Ridiculous!!!

O yea and you can't bring in any Guest or have online coop which suxs!!!

I agree it takes more skill to rank up and play Halo 3, you always gain experience in COD 4, not the same in Halo 3. Plus there is 4x as many players playing Halo 3 on any given day VS. COD 4, so the competition is bound to be better.Cubs360

Ok let us put an end to this right now. I prefer to go with the IGN score for both games in a debate like this, Halo 3 = 9.5 and COD4 = 9.4. When you compare everything, both games for all they are worth, Halo 3 is in fact SLIGHTLY better, but that slight superiority is so nominal that it really isn't worth getting into a debate as to which game is better. That is because it all comes down to preference, what do you like better, do you like a game that allows for more run and gun or a game that requires more strategy? Do you like a game that requires more skill and teamwork (if you can get good teammate(s) and work with them) or a game that requires more strategy and twitch reflexes? Do you like a game that gives you weapons based on your skill, or a game that distributes weapons evenly across the map? It is nothing more then preference, and how you look at each game.

The idea that playing Halo 3 takes skill. Any game were you do not start with your preferred weapon is not a game based on skill, but on how quickly you can get a good one. Halo 3 improved this by making your starting weapon not completely useless like they did in H2. But until I can respawn with the battle rifle everytime I die, the game won't be based completely on the skill of the player.

And don't make me mention auto-aim. Still not as bad as it was is H2, but there's a lot more of it than in COD4.

First of all, I'm nowhere near an elitist MLG gamer, I'm not even close to being on that level. And second, I just don't find working to get the most effective weapon for half the match to be fun, or an effective mechanic for making sure the primary determinant in winning the match is the result of how well you play.

I just don't like the mechanic, because I think it removes player skill from the game, and to me that just isn't that fun.

The idea that Call of Duty 4 takes skill is that you die within one grenade and the idea is that everytime you spawn in teamdeathmatch you can constantly nadespam to rack up the kills where as Halo 3 needs you to manage your health as it takes longer to regenerate health in Halo 3 than Call of Duty 4.

Halo 3 does take skill in many areas, all shooters do.

All weapons in Halo has it's benefits, yeah sure the rocket can be empowering but aside from that you can just make do with every weapon have adapt to the situation your in. In a close range battle for example its up in the air who would win (BR vs AR) where as a AR should try to avoid BR from a certain range and try to find the same or more effective weapon according to that range.

I was just playing devils advocate for a second there stereotyping how COD4 doesnt take any skill in defense to those whiners that claim that Halo 3 doesnt take any skill because of an autoassist that doesnt change the outcome of a battle and so on.

*Sigh* Ok you're right, every PC server is full of cheats, everyone uses hacking tools that they keep updated, no one has any skill, consoles are best because everyone has an equally appauling control method and I don't win countless matches without cheating :roll:.

Sometimes it can happen yes but it is a VERY far cry from being the norm and you know it. You also know the best players play on PC but i'll never get you to admit it so i'm off home instead :).

I think thats a better answer.

IF you want something more tactical go with COD 4 if you want more run and gun go with Halo 3.

If you want a campaign with some intensity and great cinematics go with COD 4.

If you want a campaign with variety, a bigger scale, and a better story IMO(not that good though) go with Halo 3.


Halo 3 is loaded with so much content that to me it will just last longer and is the better experience. Because thanks to the theatre and forge options i can live off this one game for years. COD 4 is just polished to perfection on its gameplay though.

BOth are very good and neither is really head and shoulders above anything else.

Both got overrated a little and neither was the best game of 07.

Both are AAA games, if you all cant see that, then whatever.jg4xchamp

Ok, I'm back. Well to start off let me say "The idea that playing Halo 3 takes skill. Any game were you do not start with your preferred weapon is not a game based on skill" is a truly arrogant /ignorant statement. Besides don't automatically start out with your weapons of choice COD4, you have to level up and earn them first.

Anyway, Halo is definitely not the game where you should start off with your weapon of preference. If that was the case then everyone would start out with all the power weapons (Sniper rifles, Rocket Launchers, Swords, Hammers ect...) and nothing else would be used, it would make for a horrible experience. If you want to do that then you can play against your friends in forge, if you honestly think that what you said takes more skill.

Oh and you can start out with the Battle Rifle every time, there is a playlist called Team Hardcore, and if you don't like that then you can play Big Team both of those start you with Battle Rifles and Assault Rifles.

I did d/l the 31 map pack and ill tell you that im still enjoying the Halo experience. I dont know theres something charming about 4 player coop and a "harder to rank up" system in Halo 3 that gives it alot of replayability along with a cool film feature and I have FRAPS.

I happen to like both games equally. [It depends on the mood]

That's hardly a fair comparison. How can you say one game is better than the other because of mods when the other is on a platform which doesn't have them?

Comparing the actual games, no the mods made by the community, i'd agree that Halo 3 is better. It's all a matter of preference however.

Yeah,those are all cool features. I personally dislike Forge,as it feels like Garrys Mod with down syndrome. the fact that there's no option to just freeze something in mid air is ridiculous.

But theater mode and file share are very cool. I'm just trying to say,people who say CoD4 has zero replay value have not played the PC version.Also you're forgetting CoD4 on PC has a map editor,which is miles better than Forge,and let's you edit the terrain. :p
