source Makes more sense reallyPOJO_MOFOWhats the ODST stand for it wasn't in the article at all???? Orbital Drop Shock Trooper?!?!?
I have a feeling this game is going to be fairly generic. Recon gave the impression the game was going to be more than just running around and **** crap. They pry took it out because it was misleading, as you pry will be just running around shooting crap as an ODST.
At least thats what I take from the name-change. They didn't want people to get their hopes up it would be anything else. Or they could just be changing it so FPS fans don't assume all you do is recon type work, as that could deter them from buying it.

What a horrible name. Recon was much much better.
And yes, the ODST stands for "Orbital Drop Shock Trooper".Â

Next up Halo : omgwtfbbq
MS wants to keep the Recon name for the full Bungie game that follows - shhh. ;)
Umm yeah, like Recon a bunch more then the ODST - no doubt.
Initials for a game name only work when the game is naturally able to be abbreviated into them (MGS, SSBB, GTA, etc) , they really don't work as the actual name of a game.

They ought to have kept it as Recon, ODST, what kind of at title is that? It's one letter off being OST (Official Soundtrack). And I'm sure it stands for something, but it's just plain unwieldy.
You could call the game 'Super Alien Laser Blasterz' and it would still pwn all other fps games and outsell them too.BudsMcGreen
Even Halo doesn't do that, so I don't know where you're getting that from.
[QUOTE="MarloStanfield"]why are they still using the halo 3 prefix?BudsMcGreen
It's an expansion.
Major flop! Expansions don't count.Who else prefers Halo 3:Recon as its name ?carlisledavid79I could go either way. It's not as stupid as calling your product "Wii" though.

why not just Halo ODST? it sounds dumb, and the gameplay sounds pretty different toowhy are they still using the halo 3 prefix?MarloStanfield

why not just Halo ODST? it sounds dumb, and the gameplay sounds pretty different tooI agree, the name is fugly. Bungie should have dropped the number "3" and kept Recon. But I'm still looking forward to it.
I'm guessing either:
It sounds to much like a Tom Clancy game / copyright issues with Ubi-Soft
Or
They may want to keep the "Recon"-name for a full game.
Idk..IMO halo is getting beat dead...the first one was way good...after that it was like playing the same game over again.FFVIIROCKS
considering with halo 3, the series reached its highest peak ever so you are pretty wrong.

Yeah, Halo 3's gameplay(especially MP) is leagues ahead of Halo 1 handsdown.
Good change. Recon just sounds generic.siggy3
Recon more aptly describes the theme of this game. What can be said of ODST which is too vague considering some Halo players don't even know what that means?
