people said when halo wars and peter jacksons halo game was announced that they had used up the halo name and overdid it. but what about mario they have made like a hundred games inn the mario universe what is so different?
I think the Mario spin off's are completely different. While keeping the fun, they have jeapordised their quality for the sake of sales. With Halo, the fact that Ensemble are doing the RTS and Peter Jackson is incharge of any movie and the interactive games means that MS and Bungie don't want Halo to be the new Mario per se, they want the sales. But they won't skip quality.
Nothing's different. If you're a huge fan of certain game (in this case Mario) you tend to either forget or not care if a company milks every last bit of the game's image. You notice and call out the exact trend for games you hate. Hypocrisy, my good sir.
Mario is a simple fun game for people of all ages.
Halo relies on story a bit more and is aimed at a predominantly older audience, think star-wars, the original trilogy were fantastic, but then the illusion was lost and the other movies just seem like 'cheap' trash... when a series starts moving beyond its intended limitations and the spin offs begin to amass quality usually takes a hit... though I'm sure all Halo games will be good, they may however loose appeal to some fans.
Mario is featured in many different genres, racing, sports, platforming etc. And their main platforming titles always brings something fresh to the table.

Am I allowed to even draw warcraft into this? That game is now also both MMORPG and RTS. The only difference is that there's different devs for the halo games. I think we should wait for the games to be released and judged to say something about this. Maybe they'll turn out to be amazing games, and enrich the genres. Maybe they'll become mediocre games. Remember, they make games with the halo games purely for the universe it's in. Not only does it get more sales because of it, they also don'thave to make up a universe on their own. The halo universe is still 10x more rich than any orcs, elves, dwarves magic like universe.

Halo is the best seller on an XBox system so they have to make all kinds of different games but they won't have the same impact on Mario games like Mario Kart

May I make a point to all of you: Have you all ever wondered why Mario Spin-offs have been successful? Beacuse THEY'RE FUN. Because they offer a new experience. BECAUSE YOU CAN CHOOSE ANY CHARACTER YOU LIKE FROM THE OTHER GAMES.
Although, I have to admit, I'm not too fond of Halo games, so I may seem a little biased, but I'm trying my best though.

they will make a more impact than any other games that has mario inn its name inn many years inn the Peter Jackson movie\game i think I can't see how Halo can be as universally appealing as Mario is. Halo's image doesn't exactly project beyond the gun-shooting sterotype, whereas Mario is family friendly, much like Disney.
That higher reach to an audience in itself tells me that Mario will continue to make more of an impact than Halo.
