I went to GameStop yesterday to buy a 360 game. I had it narrowed down to 3 choices: Crackdown, Lost Planet, or COD3. Crackdown was sold out. I decided to get COD3 and I asked an employee if he played Crackdown. He said he bought it only for the Halo 3 beta.
Just then, another employee whos shift apparently just started came in. I asked the 2nd employee if Crackdown was any good. He said he only bought it for the Halo 3 beta. He then told me that there has been a major influx of phone calls from people asking if the Halo 3 beta was on Crackdown.
He said "You wanted Crackdown for the Halo 3 beta, right?"
I said that Crackdown looked intriguing enough in its own right and that the Halo 3 beta is a nice bonus. He had a face like :| when I said that.
He said that I was the first person who wanted to actually play Crackdown without getting excited about the Halo 3 beta. He looked utterly shocked that I cared anything about Crackdown and not the Halo 3 beta.
After all this transpired I just had a face like  the whole time going home. I couldn't believe that both employees had bought Crackdown (not even tried playing it) for the sole purpose of the beta. Absolutely ridiculous.
Anyway, I don't really have a point with all this except to say that after the whole GameStop incident, I'm convinced now more than ever that Crackdown will only sell well for the Halo 3 beta. People are willing to spend $60 for a beta...
I'm also convinced GameStop is run by a bunch of buffoons...
