Just wondering what you guys think Bungie will do with Activision behind it and whether or not their next project could become another Halo type franchise in which we get 5 amazing games in a 10 year period? I have been a big Bungie fan since their Myth days so I'm thinking the answer will be yes. I just hope that Activision doesn't milk the nipple off the cow like they are doing with CoD.

I only layed bungie's Halos t be honest, but if they care for it and pay the same amount of attention to detail we might have another winner here. .

Combat Evolved was great, 2 was painfully bad, 3 was less painfully bad, ODST was an ok glorified expansion, and Reach was great.

not getting the "one of the greatest franchises ever" vibe you are

Sales and reviews of those 5 games, plus the on-line MP revolution Halo started for consoles, says it is one of the greatest franchises to ever grace gaming. You don't have to like a franchise, but in some cases, you have to respect it and Halo is surely one of those cases. The numbers speak for themselves: Halo: CE - 95..6 Halo 2 - 94.6 Halo 3 - 93.5 Halo 3: ODST - 85.1 Halo: Reach - 91.7 In total these 5 games have sold around 50 million units.

I'll say this, if it's a subscription MMO I will never know because I won't even give it a chance.

uh no. sales and review scores are meaningless unless you're an investor.

if you were to call Halo 1 one of the greatest shooters ever or say Halo 2 revolutionized console multiplayer, I'd give it to you. but calling the franchise as a whole one of the best things in gaming is something i cannot agree with.

Depends, I'm sure they can top the campaigns of the Halo games easily since they won't be worried about pleasing fans of Halo Combat Evolved with each new iteration they make. MP wise, I don't know, the games are really great, but I'll love to see them top it.

actually you seemed confused as to why someone could dislike a franchise when it's sold well and been handed great reviews, and i pointed out that it's not an uncommon occurence.

not to mention you've conveniently ignored the fact that i said i don't hate Halo but think including it as one of the best series ever is wrong on many different levels. and that all you've really done so far is say "i liked it", "lots of people bought it", and "some other people liked it too."

Actually I call those people haters. They act as if there are so many games out there that get wrong reviews or unjustified sales, when in reality for every 1 game that actually does deserve that talk, whether it was bad or good reviews/sales, there are 100 that rightfully did get what they deserved. Seems like they just want to argue for the sake of arguing, even in the clear face of defeat, since for SW, sales/reviews is the double edge sword you really can't debate with, especially when a game or franchise is doing well in both. For its genre, the Halo franchise is one of the best ever. I have already provided my reasons why, while you have added a mere good, bad, great, etc for each game. Not really the "wrong on many different levels" you have claimed to have given, but maybe in your opinion that is all you need to say? Either way, I'm sure most would disagree with you.

i'm not interested in System Wars "rules" unless they'll get me banned or suspended.

i would add reasons why each of those games are bad or good or mediocre, but actually i can get on board with "for its genre"

Quoted for truth, they are one of the most talented and consistent developers in history. Unfortunately, 95% of the System Wars community isn't old enough to have experienced anything pre-Halo. None the less, with literally hundreds of games under my belt over my past 20 years of gaming, I don't think any game made me say "wow" the same way Halo:CE did the first time I popped it in my xbox. Levels 2-5 were simply gaming nirvana.

I don't think Halo is one of the best franchises of all time. It's not even close to that. I bet Bungie can top it fairly easily in quality, since they seemed to be over Halo for quite a while.

Their next IP probably won't sell as well, though.

I can't be bothered debating with people giving their opinions on how Halo is teh suckss!@. Fact is it was an amazing franchise and no matter what the game if it gets popular it's going to get hate. Quoting Bungie. "Our next game will be a game changer like Halo was" That's a big call. I can't wait to see what they have in store for us :D

It doesn't matter what Bungie does next it will never live up to a lot of peoples expectations. Saying that though if they move away from the FPS genre that's one easy step to distance themselves from Halo and make it so people don't immediately go "OMG dis sucks it nuffin like Halo!!!" the instant they see the first screenshot.

(included Halo Wars & Halo 3 ODST which were around 1.5 and 4 million respectively) Also, you used gamerankings which is a joke, use GS scores and in fact, that would even enhance your argument Halo CE 9.7 Halo 3 9.5 Halo Reach 9.5 Halo 2 9.4 Halo ODST 9.0 Halo Wars 6.5

It is always funny to witness some one in SW try to discredit some one else's post with no credible information of their own, especially from a Sony drone who is obviously butt hurt over the Halo series.

Any way, both of these articles proves us both wrong, although I was closer to the figure than you were and from the looks of things the series as a whole will reach 50+ million by years end - http://www.vgchartz.com/article/87043/halo-a-sales-history/ - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halo_(series) The only thing you were right about was using GS instead of GR to help my argument. GR = 92% overall for the 5 Bungie games, 94% overall per GS.

Halo has big marketing and big fanbase behind it, Acti can provide the former, but the latter will be hard to earn.

I don't think Bungie is such a great developer. Certainly not Valve or id level.

Halo has big marketing and big fanbase behind it, Acti can provide the former, but the latter will be hard to earn.

I don't think Bungie is such a great developer. Certainly not Valve or id level.

SaltyMeatballs
Bungie themselves have a big fanbase, I'm sure they'll support their next game if it's interesting.

Bungie was making GOTY types (Myth series) before they even started the Halo series (multiple GOTYs). With out a doubt one of the best developers of the past 20 years.

[QUOTE="RonnieLottinSF"][QUOTE="-The-G-Man-"]

Combat Evolved was great, 2 was painfully bad, 3 was less painfully bad, ODST was an ok glorified expansion, and Reach was great.

not getting the "one of the greatest franchises ever" vibe you are

-The-G-Man-

Sales and reviews of those 5 games, plus the on-line MP revolution Halo started for consoles, says it is one of the greatest franchises to ever grace gaming. You don't have to like a franchise, but in some cases, you have to respect it and Halo is surely one of those cases. The numbers speak for themselves: Halo: CE - 95..6 Halo 2 - 94.6 Halo 3 - 93.5 Halo 3: ODST - 85.1 Halo: Reach - 91.7 In total these 5 games have sold around 50 million units.

uh no. sales and review scores are meaningless unless you're an investor.

if you were to call Halo 1 one of the greatest shooters ever or say Halo 2 revolutionized console multiplayer, I'd give it to you. but calling the franchise as a whole one of the best things in gaming is something i cannot agree with.

We all realize you're trying ever so hard to be different, but I think you're taking it too far. Calling Halo one of the greatest franchises ever isn't a stretch by any imagination.

He said that like I was comparing Halo to Half-Life, LOL! Trolls know no bounds or they just suck at reading subject lines? Take your pick.

Haha I think a good bit of both!

On topic: I'm anxious about their next release; cautiously excited. I am in love with the Halo series, but I'm in love with it because of its mechanics, feel, and balance. It hits an undeniably sweet spot. There have been nagging problems throughout the series though that aren't necessarily related to gameplay. I felt like they set a fantastic foundation for a story and universe in the first game, and had that universe fleshed out beautifully in several novels, but they could never get me really "in to" a story in their games from 2 - Reach. If they perfect their feel and controls and fun factor in their next series, count me in though!!

idk. Their best game is still the original Halo.. Halo 3 was amazing as well, and halo 2 was ok.. But Reach was incredibly disappointing and felt very poorly put together.. Lacked the polish and spark the other halo games, even Halo 2 had. And ODST was just a crappy cash in. So idk with their last two games being as lackluster as they were I won't rule it out but I'll be very surprised

Halo is what it is today because of MS, I am not sure they will ever be able to create a sales juggernaut like Halo without them, but that's not to say they wont create quality games on par.

i just dont see how you can make such claims. i would say probably on par with valve (if not better) and better than id. definatly as active with the fanbase as valve is with theirs. not many devs listen to the fans like Bungie.
