I think its amazing how one game can garner so much attention and emotion...a game that's still MONTHS from release! Its graphics get scrutinized to a sand grain, threads about it are made just to get a lot of replies. Has there ever been a game this popular in videogame culture? I don't think so.shsonline
That shows only that people nowadays know how to use the internet. Has there ever been a more popular game in videogame culture? Yes... Tetris, Mario, Pac-Man and Pong!
[QUOTE="Truth-slayer"]GTA. And Lair isnt even a franchise yet and it has gamered more attention on this forum than Halo 3 has.

Name a bigger exclusive franchise right now. Ninty has Mario, okay, but that doesn't resonate with the pop culture too much anymore. Every high school, elementary, and college male knows who the MC is. Halo 2 had a bigger opening night than most blockbuster movies. When's the last time Mario did that?Â

Nah its just fun to make fun of an overrated series and see all the pissed off fanboys.Â
I was about to say Wii Sports as well. But I think games like Nintendogs, Brain Age, and Pokemon prove that they are bigger exclusive franchises than Halo. Look at Pokemon. 5 million just in Japan. Add worldwide sales and it's no contest anymore.Zhengi

GTA III, Vice City, San Andreas sold way more than Halo and Halo 2. SMB3 sold more. FFVII sold more. The answer to your question is "yes". Also, SSBM sold more than Halo 1.  Halo 2 is the most popular game for lemmings...Halo 3 will be shortly. But don't think for a second that Halo 3 will be the most popular game in videgame culture.Â
