What game does SW think will provide greater value for money?

In terms of features, overall experiences and longevity?

With Reach confirmed to have a wide open SP campaign, online MP, customisation with gametypes, forge editor, theatre mode, 4 player co-op, firefight....

Can KZ3 hold a candle to it, when it releases next year?

EDIT : And what features would YOU like to see added to either game? and why?

Halo is the best known for having the largest bang for your buck, and Reach is even furthering these expectations. I have no clue about Killzone 3 though, because I have never owned a ps3 or played Killzone 2 so I won't state my opinion on which I think will have more features

I say Halo reach. I prefer XBL and Bungie are the kings at keeping a MP fresh. I'm sure that if KZ3 has better controls it will be great to and I'll probably get that to, but Bungie is the king.

It's hard to say, KZ3 ain't out yet.

But, I loved Killzone 2, but it died after 2 months with me.

If it's anything like Killzone 2, then I'd say Halo Reach would appeal more to me in a heartbeat. Killzone 2 needed some multi player fixin uppers.

Well, Killzone 3 will be hyped to death but will only manage to sell about 1 million units. The campaign will be mediocre and the multiplayer will suck & get trounced by the PS3 version of Black Ops.

Halo: Reach will be moderately hyped, sell millions in days and the campaign will be entertaining. The multiplayer will entertain players for years to come.

Halo of course it's simply the better overall game. Although I did like the clan setup for KZ2.

Also, Reach is destined to outsell and outscore Killzone 3.

Reach will win the feature battle, but this thread wasn't necessary. The other Reach/Feature set thread pretty much put out that Reach is a game that is nice and loaded with content.

Like Killzone 2 was better than Halo 3, right?

Halo: Reach is Bungie's biggest project ever. If something doesn't go very wrong, it will most likely be the better game.

Halo. 4 player coop, firefight, fantastic controls, much better SP, and of course the MP which is the standard for console shooters.

I don't think we know enough about Killzone 3 to make a comparison right now, but based on pure speculation i think Reach will be the more long-term game just going off how much content was crammed into Halo 3. Who knows though, Killzone 3 may surprise us.

Well, seeing as how GG hasn't announced all of KZTrey's features, it's gonna be hard to say which. It's easy to think that Reach will have a higher quantity of features, which is a strong possibility. As for now, I can't vote on that. Whether, the individual gamer prefers one feature-set over the other remains to be seen as well.

Because I can see this thread is going to end up with lots of Halo Reach posts (and little KZ3 due to little info), feel free to share opinion on what you think will have more.... But what do YOU want to see in either ? For me...Halo Reach and a custom games browser - would be insane.

Anything can happen. I love the idea of daily challenges and the persistence of Arena in Reach. KZ2 has weekly honor rankings and a very well designed clan system that most games don't have. I'm eager to see how they capitalize on them and what new ideas they'll add.

If GG throws in as much content into KZ3 as Bungie is putting into HR, then.... gamers will have another great FPS. Those FPS's are a rare breed nowadays.

GG, though, is not as highly skilled as Bungie. They proved that by providing the gaming world with Killzone 2.

Killzone 3 needs to make it so that I don't have to reunlock the Sniper Rifle. if I am to take couth's head off come launch day. I want my beloved sniper rifle(plus I literally get giddy sniping in that game, IT"S SO AWESOME). It just has such a nice pop to it :D Oh man and when you hit em in the head and they just collapse on the spot as their head whiplashes. So so sooooo good.

I don't care about graphics - I'm on about overall features. But please, do tell me why you feel Halo is getting stale and milked? Especially when it took me time to readjust from the Beta to Halo 3 again.

Refer to my earlier and well-thought out point. Firefight mode will make sure Halo never gets stale with the countless customizations. Not to mention the improved level creator.

I'm really interested to see how Forge is this time....there have been some crazy creations - and Halo 3's was only made very quickly I believe? Should be fantastic. Oo, just remembered the community features like photo/video clip browsing - that was fun in the beta.

Um....the gaming world that was Killzone 2 looked quite good(admittedly yes I am not a fan of the campaign), and when it comes to shooting mechanics few games on consoles have gunplay quite as satisfying(Halo sure as hell doesn't). The controls need to tighten up a bit, but it's one of the more visceral First Person Shooters on the market.

Also what Killzone 2 lacked in content/features it mroe than made up for in just all around great multiplayer gameplay. It wasn't as gimmicky as Modern Warfares brand of unlocks. Shooting someone is actually fun in Killzone 2, and the maps are big enough to really take advantage of the player count, while also making sure it never feels like a cluster ****(looking at you resistance). The CIass system is as good as anything not named Team Fortress 2, and you're always given enough stuff early on to be competitive.

Are there some balancing issues? Yeah a little because developers don't get that making top tier weapons/perks unlockable means you put new players or people who don't play very often at a significant disadvantage. Which isn't due to skill, but more or less due to the limited time of play. Other than that though I thought Killzone 2 was a damn good multiplayer game, and it was as good as Halo 3 without the robust features of it.

A custom games browser would be nice, but I'm not sure we'll see it. Beyond that, there's really nothing left to be desired by me :) :P They have this in KZ2, so it should be in KZ3.

---

For Killzone Trey:

1.) I'd like to see GG extend Battle Replays into real-time match recording like Theater (Halo) and Cinema (Uncharted). As of now, its only records a 2D plane with colored dots serving as players on the map.

2.) Vehicles should def. be in MP. Needs Jump-Pack, mech suit, tank, and buggy for starters. And please, a Jet Bike!

3.) Expand on the superb Warzone mode and clan system.

4.) Smartly transfer the Brutal Melee System into MP.

5.) Multiple variations of each weapon. At least 2 shotguns and 2 sniper rifles! New weapons of course (said to be inspired by KZ1, which is awesome :)).

There's more, but I don't feel like typing it out :P. I'm just glad that GG says they're addressing all of the criticisms gamers had with KZ2 :). And that MP continues to be a huge focus: "expect true innovation", says Herman Hulst. Not sure how accurate that quote is, but I'm holding him to his word !

Ya Reach will own, I was just taking a jab :P No doubt Reach will have more modes and customization, but I'm a firm believer that KZ3 will be a better game but will fade before Reach. Halo might have the long lasting simplicity balance and polish, but KZ has the excitement glammer and graphics.

It was still good. Didnt have the amount of content as a Halo 3 and the SP story was meh but overall still very solid mechanics.

I doubt Killzone 3 will have anywhere near as much features as Halo Reach. It would most likely be on par with Modern Warfare 2, in terms of feature. Anyway, if I don't find the gameplay appealing, it won't matter how much features a game manages to garner.

I want to add -tighten up the controls a bit. Specifically the reloading. I Feel like I have to JAM that square button just to reload. I don't know if it's my controller, input lag, or what but it bugs me to no end -Have cIasses from the get go. I don't want to wait to get on my sniper :P -For the single player. Have some more open level design. No not just good draw distance, I mean the entire level or battle area itself be bigger in general with a bunch of helghan and ISA(or whats left of ISA). It lets your enemy AI run free and shows off exactly how good they are, and it'll add to the warzone like vibe that the game is aiming for -Less reliance on those scripted scenarios where you have respawning enemies. That's just a personal thing I hate.

Halo 3's story was just as meh as KZ2. Imo KZ2 has a better SP unless you were playing co op. It was more challeging and more epic imo.

Plus they need to have a longer leveling up process for online, I loved ranking up in KZ2 but once I got to the top I kind of felt like that was game over.

Halo is getting stale and milked, it's new features are stuff like sprint  KZ3 will be the better game and have better graphics. Reach will get the sales. TehNubTuber

yeah they also added jetpacks, another game comes to mind that also is doing that...

EDIT : And what features would YOU like to see added to either game? and why?

halo reach will obliterate KZ 3 overall, but I'll be buying both day one.

Halo. 4 player coop, firefight, fantastic controls, much better SP, and of course the MP which is the standard for console shooters.

Fizzman

You only named 2 features. Firefight and co op :|.

Anyways, I am not sure which will have more features because I dont know enough of each to vote.Halo tends to have features such as map editor and co-op while Killzone has bots and a great clan system. Like I said, I cant vote because I dont know and niether does anyone in this thread since we still dont know anything about Killzone 3 multiplayer.

[QUOTE="Ravensmash"]Because I can see this thread is going to end up with lots of Halo Reach posts (and little KZ3 due to little info), feel free to share opinion on what you think will have more.... But what do YOU want to see in either ? For me...Halo Reach and a custom games browser - would be insane.jg4xchamp

I think those concerns should be alleviated going by the interviews and previews so far.

They're making the controls (aiming) more responsive. I haven't had the same issues with reloading though :(. As for SP levels, the oil rig in the arctic is said to be 10x bigger than the average KZ2 level, and the AI is being tweaked to take advantage of the change. I'd like to see them get rid of respawning enemies as well!

As for co-op, that was a much desired feature in KZ2. I'm eager to see how they implement it. Will a second player be able to play as Rico in the campaign, or will there be a separate co-op campaign. Or both? Horde-like mode imminent as well lol.

[QUOTE="h575309"][QUOTE="iDefineInfinity"]

GG, though, is not as highly skilled as Bungie. They proved that by providing the gaming world with Killzone 2.

iDefineInfinity

It was still good. Didnt have the amount of content as a Halo 3 and the SP story was meh but overall still very solid mechanics.

Was good, yes. But needed more in order to be classified as a Halo killer.

It doesn't need to be a Halo killer, and with all due respect to a franchise that I more than love but Bungie needs to start living up to that name.

Halo 3 could have been something truly epic, but they got safe with it.They had the stage set for something that could have been the epitome of awesome in terms of a campaign. Flood have cortona gotta save her, Covenant is on a full on invasion of Earth, and the Elites are now hot on Truths trail to kick his ass. The Ark is opened up, and the Halo rings are all primed to fire, and you have the Gravemind which is just begging to be a boss fight in a game.

Instead they played it safe. Equipment was the only real addition to the core(Which yes they did tighten up from halo 2) and that was better in multiplayer than single player(which Reach does significantly better), and I may bag on Killzone 2s level design, but it's hard not to take shots at Halo 3s level design. It's so schizo in quality. For every good mission(sierra 117, tsavo highway, storm, ark, covenant), there are bad missions(Crow's Nest, Flood, Halo), and the gutter trash that was Cortana. The plot killed all the character work they did on Arbiter in the 2nd game and made him a side kick, and for whatever reason Bungie refuses to improve the flood to actually make them FUN to fight.

When Halo was in open environments and letting the AI run free it was good. When the levels were tightly paced, varied, and just long enough to not over stay their welcome it was good, but other points in the campaign make you ask how the hell is this even a Triple-A franchise? There are just bonehead moves like some of the levels being corridor shootouts. The series doesn't have the gunplay for those kind of shootouts, why have levels that are like that? to the dull experience that is the flood. Not to mention the game trying too hard to convey some atmosphere(ODST did that better).

They also promised a grand scale, but in the end they held back. It should have felt like a warzone, but in the case of Halo 3 it felt like pockets of firefights after another. It needed some grander set pieces to go with the nonscripted awesomeness of Halo. Also no 3-way battles. Some of the best parts in Halo are the 3-way battles like the Covenant civil war in Halo 2, and the Flood vs You vs Covenant stuff around the end of Halo: CE. Also the person that made Guilty Spark a boss should be fired.

All in all atleast the soundtrack was awesome, and the multiplayer was fun. That said nothing in Halo 3 was quite as epic

As this Trailer

Or as awesome as this THEME

...well maybe the two scarabs.
