Halo Reach Will Outsell Call of Duty Black Ops, Boasts Xbox UK Director = arrogance

According to Stephen McGill, who is the Director of Xbox and Entertainment for Microsoft in the United Kingdom, Reach is going to outself Black Ops.He goes on to point out that 34 million people have purchased a Halo video game, and that all of those 34 million people are going to want to play Reach. He may be accurate in his speculation: Reach is the final Halo-based title that's coming from the house that built Halo, Bungie Studios. And with the video game developer's Swan Song, they are throwing pretty much everything into the bucket, even the kitchen sink, to make sure that this title is the most enjoyable of the series.

.

.

There is no logic there at all. Just because 34m have purchased the halo series does not mean those 34 million people are unique customers, meaning, 1 person could've purchased halo 1, 2, halo wars and odst.

All in all, this is arrogance at its finest

yea his logic is off.

Though its entirely possible for reach to outsell black ops... though rather unlikely.

according to these forums people are getting sick of the franchise... if thats something that alot of gamers are feeling... maybe black ops will sell less than expectations... but again its probably wishful thinking on my part.

I would make fun of him, if he wasn't a Microsoft employee. It's his job, what do you expect? Saying controversial things creates hype, hype brings more sales.

It should on the 360 platform. No sane reason to compare a multiplat on 4 systems to an exclusive. Or is there?

I think Call of Duty Black-Ops will outsell Halo Reach even on the Xbox 360 by itself (and make bank off all its ports combined), but both should sell really well though

no, it won't.

Day 1 sales for Halo: Reach will probably be around the 1-1.5 million range.

Day 1 sales for Call of Duty: Black Ops will probably be around the 3-3.5 million range.

according to vgchartz Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 sold 11.52m on xbox whilst Halo 3 sold 11.14m(worldwide)

i believe vgchartz modify their numbers to match official numbers, so the statistics above should be correct.if you can provide a more credible link please do so.

That's not accounting for bundles sold, and I believe Halo 3 sold a lot of 360's. Plus when MW2 came out the 360 install base was much larger than when Halo 3 came out.

There is actually zero chance of that happening since half the world seem to think COD is gods gift to man and the most hardcore game ever.

Reach has over 2 million preorders in America alone, buddy...

okay? even then it'd be a fool's dream to think Halo: Reach, an EXCLUSIVE for Xbox 360, will outsell the most best-selling FPS franchise of all time that is being released on both the Xbox 360 and PS3.

and perhaps you'd like to pull those Black Ops numbers?

edit: and what do you mean "America alone"? last time i checked, the rest of the world barely gives a rat's *** about Halo, especially Japan.

expect the preorder boost from the rest of the world to put it around the 2.3 million overall tally.

Wow kid, it's just a video game. And Halo is just as popular in the UK. Expect at least 3 million preorders worldwide COD is the Madden of the FPS genre. A new version comes out every year, with few improvements and still is being sold for $60

i'm not sure if you're serious or joking.

the whole Halo franchise is almost 99% America predominant.

don't believe me? check the statistics for where the Halo games get the majority of their sales from Day 1.

His points obvious :|, maybe you should take those defensive fanboy goggles off. I mean, really? Bringing GT5 into a thread about CoD and Halo Reach? Cows must be on damage control already. Halo: Reach will get great reviews, sell tons, and will be played for years to come.

Also, Halo 3 was the best selling video game in 2007, outselling CoD4 (360 version). It sold over 3 million in the US the first two weeks, and Reuters estimates Halo 3 sold over 5 million in the UK in the fist two weeks. So for those that say, "only americans are halo fans blah blah" its untrue.

It's funny seeing you squirm, being surrounded by all this Halo hype. It's Halo day come 12am, too bad you'll be missing out! It'll be past your bedtime anyway!

Was this post really neccessary? :? Comming from a person who just said "wow kid, its just a video game"

God I wish lemmings would realize Halo is not the highest selling game of all time. Just as I explained to you earlier, Gran Turismo 5 Prologue had over 2 million preorders as well. Do you want a cookie for your game FINALLY reaching the same level of sales Gran Turismo already reached for the last 15 years?

That point makes no sense. Did you just say Halo reached in 9 years what it took GT 15 years? You just shot yourself in the foot.

What exactly do I have to damage control? So what, you get a good scoring game (your first AAA metacritic exclusive this whole year, and your LAST until april btw, while we get like 6 in that same timeframe. He made the statement about preorders as if it meant something. But since I proved that GT had the same amount of preorders as reach, it doesnt count right? There is nothing to "damage control" as no damage is being done. Every copy of Halo reach sold =/= a PS3 taken back to the store lol.

No, I said that halo reached in 9 years what GT reached 15 years AGO. Every one of the main GT games sold over 10 million (the second game barely falling short of 10 million) and the highest one selling 15. Halo 3 was the FIRST title in the series to get even remotely close to the sales Gran Turismo has experienced. Lems have no place to be as arrogant as they are when it comes to the sales of halo, as there are other AAA titles that have sold more.

Notice how i UNDERLINED, BOLDEST, and INCREASED THE FONT of Hellomoto56 and BodyElites post. His point was obvious, Hellomoto56 said Day 1 sales will be 1-1.5 million, and Bodyelite said has atleast 2 million preorders in the US. Then you got upset, and brought Gran Turismo into this for no reason.

Edit: I can't post Hellomoto's post for somereason, just scroll to the top of the page, you'll see.

Lol, I didnt get upset, because I dont get upset over wars between peices of plastic (Imaginary wars mind you). I really just dont care that much lol. Some of you guys take this **** way to seriously.

The statement that Hellomoto made is irrelevant to me, or else I would have responded to him. Bodyelite said toated Halo Reach's preorder numbers like it meant something, and I simply pointed out that Gran Turismo 5 Prologue had equally impressive preorders.

Also, keep in mind Prologue is a DEMO, compared to a MAIN halo game with the largest marketing campaign microsoft has EVER given for a videogame (and I believe the largest EVER for a video game period, but im not sure)

A demo compared to its full game. Anyway reach will sell lots, wont sell as many consoles i think as halo 3, but will logically become the best selling title on 360 eventually. It will also have the most sustainable community to boot.

Your previous posts sound like your taking it very seriously. Anyways, BodyElite posted the preorder numbers were atleast 2 million in response to Hellomoto, who said Halo will only sell 1-1.5 day one. So I really have no idea why you keep bringing GT up, do sales really matter that much to you?

Suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuure  Even if all x360 gamers buy it instead of black ops, still the ps3 and pc sales together are enough to outsell it.

Spot on my friend. He does take it seriously, why else would he be on a gaming forum called system wars :P

On the 360 alone it *might* have a chance. Doubt it tho.

[QUOTE="TheMISCMan48"] Lol, I didnt get upset, because I dont get upset over wars between peices of plastic (Imaginary wars mind you).

[QUOTE="After_Math"][QUOTE="After_Math"] His points obvious :|, maybe you should take those defensive fanboy goggles off. So for those that say, "only americans are halo fans blah blah" its untrue TheMISCMan48

This really is pretty sad. You have been told over and over and it is clear as day why he gave Halo Reach's presale numbers. Not because he was saying it like it meant something but because the person who he was responding to said Halo Reach would only sell 1 to 1.5 million on day one. Now if you are STILL having trouble comprehending why he said 2 million presale orders then I will make it even more clear. 2 million is MORE than 1-1.5 million which would mean that Halo Reach would have MORE than 1-1.5 million day one sales. Do you understand yet?

2 million preorders =/= 2 million day one sales for prologue. Is that clear enough for you?

[QUOTE="BodyElite"][QUOTE="HelloMoto56"]

no, it won't.

Day 1 sales for Halo: Reach will probably be around the 1-1.5 million range.

Day 1 sales for Call of Duty: Black Ops will probably be around the 3-3.5 million range.

TheMISCMan48

Reach has over 2 million preorders in America alone, buddy...

And Gran Turismo 5: Prologue had over 2 million preorders, 1 million of them in Europe alone.

Your point?

That HelloMoto56s day 1 prediction of only 1-1.5 million sales has already been surpassed through Reachs preorders alone?

Ohhh so you don't think preorder sales is a good indicator of day 1 sales... :| why didn't you just say that, everyones been wondering what your point was. :P

So what happened to GTp, did some people cancel their preorders?

It's gonna be the most played game on Xbox 360 for the next 5 years. Everyone's gonna eventually own it. Can't say the same for COD. there's a new one every year. It will worn it's welcoem by then.

It went on to sell 5 million for a demo, which is really impressive, so I guess not.

I don't think that's what he meant. He just worded it poorly. What he's trying to say is that everyone who has ever bought a Halo game will want to buy Reach, and that's a lot of people. I'm also going to assume he's talking about 360 sales specifically.
