Well Halo's biggest market is the US so it sells pretty much all of its copies there. Not sure about the rest of the world, but US eats the game up like they do with COD.
pre-ordering for any game but a big title like this is stupid.

You've bought Madden day one every year for 15 years? :P Gamestop is the sort of place i meant by usual places. Alls i know is i couldn't buy the last FIFA, the last Madden, GTAIV or Halo 3 on day one in all the usual game stores when i tried. I ended up having to go to supermarkets where they had some copies left. So in conclusion, pre-orderings games like Halo or Madden from your local game retailer is not such a silly idea.
I maybe preordering it soon and hitting up a midnight launch. Reach looks excellent.
Though I think GT5 will top the charts with preorders if it hasn't already.

Yeah but GT sells in all markets so it is more difficult to judge how it will do simply based on the US.
ehh, i would say it only appeals to people who likes racing sims and cars, me and my friends who likes games like halo or bioshock (shooters) generally dislike those kinds of games, i remeber my friend named niall, bought forza 2 a few days after launch, he thought it was going to be awesome, played it for 5 mins and traded it in for resident evil 5 lol
Lol Halo outsells each of those franchises you listed...Mario and Zelda games hardly sell on the Wii honestly. Super Mario Galaxy 2 the juggernaut of all Wii games has about 3m in sales...nothing compared to what Reach is likely to get.
Uncharted and Killzone don't boast incredible sales numbers either UC2 has got something like 3-4m in sales even after all this time out and Killzone 2 only has about 2m in worldwide sales.

15+ =/= 15 years
and I'm talking about pre-orders in general, not just madden games. Pre-orders are a joke for most games... Only game I had ahard time getting day one was a PS2 game (4 years ago). Halo, I can understand.. Madden... never had a problem, they dont have production problems for games like they once did.
Note: I picked up every Halo game up, day one, with no pre order... and I'll prob do the same this time.

Same hah...the only special editions I'm tempted to get are the Bioshock 2 Special Edition (yes Ik its been out for a long time just haven't bought it) and the LBP2 Collector's Edition. Oh and of course a Mass Effect 3 Special Edition if the game ends up having one on launch (which it most likely will).
Only reason I am preordering Reach is because I get a free $20 gift card and free release-date-delivery.

I did the same thing, did you pre order it from Amazon using the Amazon Prime free trial?
Yeah, but I am a Prime member. I activated it in May and paid the fee in June. I have already received over $50 of free shipping. It is a great deal.
I got a free 1 year membership to prime by signing up for Amazon Student with my college email adress (I suppose any .edu email address will work though). I'm guessing that's what Mythomania is referring to when talking about free Amazon Prime trial.
