Well yeah but actually no. It will start with Halo: Reach which is the third best game in the series. Maybe fourth but still amazing and a lot better than 4, 5 or ODST.

a bit strange they are calling it the 'master chief collection' when its only going to be one game (initially)

They want to give you the satisfaction of building the collection yourself. So, they are releasing each game separately. It is part of the new collection mechanics they are introducing to the series. hehe :)
Jokes aside, It is good that they are not rushing all the games at once and fucking it up like MCC on X1. I would rather have them release each one when it is ready.
That's actually a really good price for a lot of content (at least in the UK).
Not too keen on Halo though.
It’s definitely a fantastic collection for sure. I have the Xbox One version so I’m just hyped to be getting Reach for it next month.
Well, I like the idea of following the Halo story line in order with Reach and follow by Combat Evolve, ect with each release. I also appreciate MS is taking it's sweet time with these games and I'll always favor 99.9% game over a rush product anytime. Take all the time you need MS :)
Also, Reach happens to be my favorite Halo and I always play the campaigns in every Halo series.
#2 on my Steam wishlist - played CE and 2 Vista, and while I think they're merely decent, I just don't like unfinished business. Like Gears 5, the regional price is crazy tempting.
Will wait on optimization reports. If it's all green, it will be good to finally "finish the fight."
This said "only on xbox one" on the packaging this is flat out wrong and disgusting to xbox one owners imo microsoft you have totally fked xbox one owners outa exclusives.
My favorite of the series is Halo:Reach, best campaign and best multiplayer on the Xbox 360 hands down.
@nepu7supastar7: I'm in the same boat, played Halo and couldn't figure out the hype for it, tried 2 hoping it was something special and nope, still just an average game at best. This is only for the CAMPAIGNS, never played MP.
halo: CE was revolutionary in its enemy behaviour. The way enemies talked and reacted to you.
It also had some really nice pacing with driving sections in a big open map, shooting sections. And it had a good sci-fi story.
On the other hand it also had some stuff I really hated: the two weapon limit was there for no reason (you are a super soldier, but can only carry two weapons). The maps repeated itself. By the end of the game you really see how much the content repeats.
It was a good (great) game for its time. But I wonder if it would still hold up.

But that was the very best part of the game itself, two limit weapon really got the players thinking what they needed the most and that added more enjoyment to it. Keep in mind it was mainly new to everyone and became almost the standard among FPS.
Owning Xbox & Halo was like having a super PC when I was still primary a console gamer.
@davillain-: It was a drastic change for a PC gamer who took stuff like no weapon limit and healthpacks for granted.
But yeah, perhaps it's the fact that the two weapon limit was copied by so many games (where it fits way less) that I hate, and not the game that started it all itself.
And yeah the Xbox was quite a beast. Its controller was another reason why Halo just felt right on there.
@mrbojangles25:
"Haven't played any Halo games except 1 and 2."
REALLY?????!!!!!! WHY?!! 😲
All Halos after 2 being hostage to crappy hardware might have something to do with it.
lol yeah something like that.
All good, plenty of other [as good or better] games to play. You know, like Crysis came out in 2007 as did Halo 3. I think I got the better end of that deal.
Not to say Halo series is bad, there's just more to the world than exclusive franchises.
Halo Reach is not a better video game than Halo 5 if we're talking about multiplayer
5 doesn't have reticule bloom
5 doesn't have armor lock
5 has nifty movement mechanics added on that make pistol battles a lot more lively
5 doesn't have a sniper that is the freest double tap ever
5 doesn't have sword base or a whole bunch of maps that are just forge world maps.
5 certainly has its problems, campaign being one of them, but the mulitplayer action was at worst AT WORST the 4th best halo, behind the multiplayer of the first 3 games, and I'm not that high on Halo 1 or Halo 3 mp. Halo 2 definitely the goat Halo, tho free. Campaign wise yeah Reach is better, but ugh, halo campaigns.
