Halo vs MGS (music)

*Not sure where this belongs. It involves games, but it's not really about them.*

Well, when I got home from school today , I was bored as hell , so I decided to take the music from MGS and Halo and put it together into one giant song of awesomeness. I had to change a few notes here and there to make them fit into the same key and time signatures, but I think it turned out pretty good.

It's recorded on my PSR 3000 (LOL), with half decent MIDI instruments. All the music was learned by ear (although its really easy to considering how simplistic the songs are).

You'll here in the song that it goes halo->MGS->halo->MGS. It's rather short, so give it a shot.

Yes , it sucks. I've done some better original stuff. Nevertheless, comment and rate.
Note: the transition between the first two sucks, but the last transition is fine.

I love the Halo trilogy's soundtrack a lot more than Metal Gear Solid 4's music, to be honest. To be fair, I only listened to a handful of MGS music, but I still think Halo outshines it.

I love the Halo trilogy's soundtrack a lot more than Metal Gear Solid 4's music, to be honest. To be fair, I only listened to a handful of MGS music, but I still think Halo outshines it.

In all honesty, I can't even think of a single Halo tune that made me remember it after I was done with the game. And well, MGS is practically all the opposite.

I'm a big fan of Halo 3's in game soundtrack. It's probably my favorite one of all. I've heard a bit of MSG 4 while my brother was playing and the music was very dramatic and exciting at times, which reminded me of watching a blockbuster movie in theaters. But Halo's music in all 3 games it just... angelic and beautiful, and even occasionally epic. Marty O'Donnell did a really really good job with the Halo soundtracks

I think Halo as a whole has a better soundtrack than any game that has released.sargentbotk

Out of those two Halo, but I'm not a fan of either soundtrack. Mass Effect>all.

I personally prefer the Half-Life soundtrack.

Between Halo and MGS I really can't decide because I haven't heard much of the MGS music. Though I do like the Halo soundtrack.

I'd go with Halo. But God Of War beats both.

The original Halo has the best soundtrack in my book.

I didn't really like the MGS4 soundtrack tbh. The lengthy main theme and love theme were epic, with old snake trailing a bit behind, but thats pretty much it. I think Halo has better music overall, but I'm not talking about the games

imo mgs just takes the cake when it comes to all game music. theres been at least one point in each game where i've almost shed a tear listening to it and i did in mgs4 during the epilogue (i know that sound unmanly but i dont really care)OBonus

Hard choice to make. Halo has kept a pretty consistant sty/e across the games. In 3, I reacted negatively at first, because so much sounded exactly the same as 1 and 2. But it's different, and new added tracks that are just as epic, if not more so are in 3.

MGS music has been dramatically different across the games. In 2, the focus seemed to be on some kind of techno-jazz, and in 3 it was about Bond-esque orchestral pieces. And then 4 moved in to very electronic-orchestral sounds. EDIT: actually I think it's hard to even classify it as that. there are so many different sty/es depending on the boss fights and locations.

Especially MGS3, the soundtrack to that game really made you feel like a secret agent :P
