I'll admit one of my biggest interest in game is based on it's franchise. However, I like the dev and I want to see if this RTS can really be a good console game.
False. Halo 2 on the PC didn't get such great reviews, because by the time they finally released it gaming had moved on a great deal. It looked and played a little dated, and didn't really add anything at all to the original game, unlike Halo 1 PC which expanded on the multiplayer to keep the game a little fresh, rather than just re-releasing it years later.
And for those reasons, Halo 2 PC didn't sell as well as Halo 1 PC did.
Yeah now that the 3rd is out there's not much reason to hold back the name from being whored out. Halo Wars obviously won't be awful..... although I'm sure no one who's ever played a real RTS on PC could ever enjoy something dumbed down for consoles.

Agreed. There is a deal of word of mouth and scrutiny at work, it would not sell well if it sucked.

But it's not going to get a 1.0 it's not going to be the worst game ever made and it will sell well because like the other Halo games it will be awesome and apeal to the masses.
people are gonna be angry when they see "Halo" buy it, and it's an RTS. I'd say this game sells slightly over a million (most of the sales right away) and then sales die off drastically. Just a guess....

You could easily say that for many franchise names.
It will do better than C&C and Battle for Middle Earth but nothing really crazy. The 360 RTS games have been good but that has never translated into sales.

In my opinion the Halo name does carry a fanbase behind it, and I think that it will sell well the first couple days, but if it's Big Rigs bad, word of mouth and negative site reception will bring it down, and there will be a steep sales drop afterwards.
I think that it's going to be what the Halo series has been so far: mediocre. It'll have some great moments, but the mistakes will end up breaking the game.

it may be a good game...still remains to be seen. however, i only think that RTS fans will be all that interested. people enjoyed the Halo trilogy for the FPS multiplayer. i'm not sure how many of the series fans are going to bite on inventory management and resource menus.
