Halo Wars Strategic Options

$10 for 3 game modes? What they hell were they smoking when they put a price tag on this? As if it wasn't bad enough we are paying $10 for 3 maps, devs now think that they can cut out gamemodes (not new missions or vehicles. Just a new timer on the screen) and charge us insane prices for it. First SF4 costumes then RE5's DLC now this.

When will this damn overpriced DLC madness end? I'm sick of it.

I don't really think thats a bad deal. Game modes extend the life of a game far more than a 3-map map pack would, and those always go for $10.

There is some **** that just doesnt make sense, this is almost as bad as the extra modes for MM9. This is up there with the worst of the worst of DLC. Some DLC is ok, I understand epilouges or new missions, vehicles, maps.

That makes cents, but this? Hell to the nah!

This is a little rediculous. It's easy, however, to spend "MS Points" as they're not really quantified as dollars. I really didn't think twice about downloading CoD maps, especially when I COULDN'T PLAY ON SERVERS WITHOUT THEM.

Would you rather pay $6 for two Killzone 2 maps or three new game modes for Halo Wars for $10? I don't think anything can beat teh Oblivions horse armour lol. Actually maybe those Home clothes and furniture's did.

At least maps are new content.

Game modes are nothing more than you playing the game differently.

SFIV costumes are worse IMO.

But this is still pretty bad, who gives a crap about this? Bungie does this for Halo 3 FOR FREE!

At least it's not just the maps for $10, like most other gamesdo, on the Ps3 and 360.

When will this damn overpriced DLC madness end?

SpinoRaptor24

When they see in overall drop in the purchase of DLC. It won't be just enough to have one game's dlc to be ignored, but once many games show dropoffs, then devs will be more likely to offer more bang for buck with dlc. But as long as there are people out there willing to shell it out, you may as well get used to it.

Man, that's pretty lame. The only DLC I've purchased this gen has either been free or games that I play a crapload of: KZ2 and Gears 1.

So Fallout 3 wasn't a complete game? I'd hardly say they're selling games in parts. Selling what I think should be free? Definately. DLC in Fallout 3, Fable 2 , and GTA IV are all scenarios that don't really fit into the main quests. Fallout 3 offers different scenarios. Fable 2's add-ons (lacking in content really) are really just unnecessary sidequests, and GTA IV is a new adventure altogether. There aren't really a whole lot of instances of incomplete games.

The more i think about it, DLC is just the industrys move against people who don't buy games. Instead of making another game make some DLC.

They can take away something from the finished game and sell it later on. Just wait, one day we will have to buy the final boss/cutscene as DLC. And there's nothing we can do about that, since casuals will buy it anyway.

We must rebel now before it's too late. We were laughing when it was just Horse Armor, but we won't be laughing for long.

Don't buy DLC, otherwise you're killing gaming. (Stuff like GTA Lost & Damned doesn't count, since it's basically like an expansion)

True, so you'd rather have delays or do without (like we've done in the past)? The only complaint I have with DLC is when I have to pay $10 for 4 Call of Duty MP maps because I can't play on the servers without them, even when I don't select the map pack option. That's just sorry.

Try PC gaming: mappacks are free and devs like valve release all their DLC for free. The only DLC IMO that justifies its price is DLC like Lost&Damned and those Fallout 3 expansions.

I don't want to turn this into a PC vs console argument, but just to give an example of how things should be done: I started playing Crysis Wars a few days ago and the game is great, it comes with 24 maps pre-installed! That's right, 24, and incredibly diverse too! Not only that, each time I connect to a server that's playing a map I don't have the game auto-downloads the map for me, I now have almost 40 maps installed on my PC, with no extra cost!

That's because Devs know that Hermits won't pay money for DLC.

Not when they can mod their own maps.

You're right, but the only reason Hermits can mod their own maps is because the Dev released a map editor. In other words, they weren't greedy about it, they know perfectly well that the map editor will result in dozens upon dozens of free maps and that will lead people to buy their game, even if they don't get money from the maps. Console owners should "vote with their wallet" and simple don't buy this nonsense.

Relax guys. DLC is not killing gaming. We've had DLC for the last few years and guess what, games still exist. It might actually be a good thing as it allows devs to make a little extra money on those who feel like they need the extras. Saying DLC is killing gaming is alot like saying "OMG. The ability to add options to your car is killing the car industry"

They can take away features/levels from the game, that are already finished, and them sell them later on. As I said, it won't be long until we see the final boss/cutscene as DLC that you have to buy.

It's not killing gaming yet, but if it ever comes to that then gaming is pretty much dead as far as I'm concerned.

They even admitted that these game modes were already in the game. 10$ on top of the 60$ you spent for the game isn't right. They should have included 5 maps or something in that DLC.
