Seriously, More people played this game then saw the actual movie.(a honorable mention goes to Perfect Dark:))

Now I know many of you are thinking of the Metroid Prime series. While those games are fantastic, I consider them to me more FPA(First person Adventure) than FPS's.

It may be the one that revolutionized console FPSs, but its not the best. Dune 2 was the first RTS that really made the modern RTS what it is today. Is it considered the best? Hell no. Revolutionary? Hell yeah.

Goldeneye did not age well. Go back and play it now and you will realize it has not aged well at all. FPSs are games that until recently, didn't really age well. New FPSs are just so dependent on new advances in AI and physic, those old games just really don't have it.

I don't know what the best console FPS of all time is. Personally I believe it is Halo for a massive number of reasons. Still that is only my opinion.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed playing through Halo CE a lot. But to me, Golden Eye lust had more memorable moments.

Nope wrong again, it's Timesplitters 2. It's like perfect dark cranked up to 11. (It was made by the same people that made perfect dark and goldeneye)

I love how nostalgia means a game is the best all of a sudden. Goldeneye and Perfect Dark were good for their time. Now, they are not.

Games like Deus Ex, Half Life, StarCraft, Fallout and Fallout 2 are still great games to this day. It doesn't have anything to do with nostalgia or being good for their time. Goldeneye is terrible now and it gets a free pass because people are thinking of it during it's time. Games get bashed these days for the same things Goldeneye did but because it was most people's first FPS it gets a free pass.

It's a great game and one of my favorites of all time but to todays standards? It's laughable. Stop living in the past.

While I dont think its the best FPS on consoles, alongside multiplats. The Darkness is a great console only shooter..... Otherwise GoldenEye was a very progrssive game, not just to consoles, but to the genre in quite a few ways. As others would sa Perfect Dark is the better game - and it is - however GoldenEye is much more of a landmark title. Saying that PD was very progressive in its own ways. Advesarial coop anyone?

I loved golden eye back in the day. There were a few other games on the n64 that i have fond memories of like perfect dark and turok.Come to think of it i rarley ever hear anyone bring up the original turok on the n64 when talking about games they loved on that system, was i the only one who really enjoyed that game?Anyways i dont think id put golden eye up there as the greatest fps of all time but it was a great game for its time.I recently went back and tried to play golden eye and it doesnt hold up.The game has simply aged in every aspect and that shouldnt come as a shock to anyone. The fps genre has evolved over the years with better technology and it makes it hard to go back and enjoy older games.Golden eye is kindeve like pong in the since that it started something and helped grow the gaming industry to were its at today and has its spot in gaming history but doesnt really hold up to todays standards.Right now when u talk about whats the best fps of all time u have to at least admit that the halo series is definatly among the best. The call of duty series also should be put up there but 10 to 15 years from now people could be saying the same about thosegames that they are about golden eye.As the years go by technology gets better and also new ways of playing games come into play that will always make it hard to go back.

I had golden eye, gave it away to my cousin because it was pure trash. And that was before halo came out.

actually if yo uwant to get technical it was made by SOME of the people that made it, it was made out of a small team that left Rare, some of the main people in the 2 games remained with Rare though.

I remember when friends would come over and I'll ask them to play Goldeneye. Well matches weren't very fun because most people I played against couldn't get past the first person view aspect. I think like only one of my friends actually knew how to play, but 1 on 1 isn't very fun.

Halo populized the genre on consoles, and just about everyone knew how to play then. Some of the greatest FPS matches I've had was on Halo: CE

I don't think I know a single person who beat turok without cheating. The graphics and weapons were cool, but the levels were terribad.

Totally gotta disagree with you there. IMO Goldeneye has aged exceedingly well. I still find it really fun to play.

No way, Golden Eye aged very poorly. I liked it for what it was when it was still new, but now I find it absolutely horrible.

I agree.

While of course it has aged, its still surprisingly good for such a dated game.

It has held up far better than lets say, the Turok games, for instance.
