Campaign, co-op campaign, co-op campaign with scoring, matchmade ranked games, unranked custom games, playing on Forge, editing on Forge. Halo3 is going to be a lot of fun...
Out of those, I think the most important are matchmade games and the Forge editor. These things are what will set Halo3 apart from the rest.
Matchmaking in Halo2 was considered awesome by a lot of people, including me. Matchmaking is most likely be what people will eventually have spent most of their Halo3 time on. If there was no matchmaking in Halo3, I would be sad. I think it's obvious why it's important.
I don't think people really understand how great of an addition Forge will be, though. I was skeptical at first, but then I realized that you can create and save a "forged" map. Think about that. That's really cool. It's going to be a big addition to the game that's going to totally fit right into the game's big focus on social multiplayer.
Most people who played a lot of Halo2 multiplayer messed around in custom games many times. If we thought sword cancelling and tank flipping was fun, think about Forged maps and the possibilites...
You could save maps with boxes and stuff arranged in a way to make it more exciting. Maybe a maze? Maybe make forts out of boxes and other objects? Or block off areas that are too concealed so that Zombies matches are more fair? A stairway? A wall? So many possibilities.
I'd actually rather have Forge in Halo3 than a real map editor. Keeps it nice and simple. Everything will download much quicker than a full map, and there isn't as much of a risk of downloading something that's total crap.
Hermits might say that none of this is new, and still regard the game as only average, but us Halo multiplayer fans know that Halo3's community features will be something special. Sooo looking forward to the game. Definitely will be the best game purchase I will have ever made.
