Though the information they gave sounds pretty interesting.
Please note that "Meh" was directed towards the screen shot.
It's not an interactive movie on rails like most modern shooters
Why people continue to support CoD is beyond me. I like playing games, not watch a movie.

That's basically why I stay away from a lot of blockbusters these days.
I like what I'm hearing. Do wish there was co-op though. Even just tacked on, it'd add hours to game for me.

Probably explains why most of today's reviewers sound like stuck-up movie critics.
Expect hordes of biomechanical creatures storming at you in Hard Reset. In the world of Hard Reset, a rebellious AI is capable of building enemies from everything it can. Literally hundreds of randomly generated, differently appearing enemies will show up. And as I said, we were inspired by Painkiller, so expect BIG surprises

We wanted to tailor the Road Hog engine for the kind of game that we wanted to make. The idea was to have everything possible dynamic, so we are making extensive use of Havok physics. The graphics engine has fully dynamic lighting. We don't use pre-rendered lightmaps. Every light is dynamic; it can casts shadows or be shot down. It's just not possible with Unreal Engine 3 to run it smoothly on low-end PCs, as Road Hog does.

If community response to Hard Reset is positive, we might consider releasing an editor in the future.
Day one purchase.
Do you only play games that push a systems hardware?[QUOTE="Heil68"][QUOTE="ABCarmine"]
Hard Reset looks a bit meh to me, I'll wait till It comes out to see.

No, Heck I'd take Conkers bad Fur day over most of the "awesome graphix games" Coming out this year.
Then I'm confused, but anyways, I'm getting this game day one. :P[QUOTE="ABCarmine"][QUOTE="Heil68"] Do you only play games that push a systems hardware? Heil68

Looks great. I'm so tired of SP experiences being filled with scripted events that this old school shooter will feel like a breath of fresh air. Even if I like a lot of those games, they lack the "pick up and play" nature that was appealing to old games like Quake and Unreal.
I think it sounds interesting, and personally I like FPS' with strong SP (like Crysis 2) over games that focus more on MP. But sadly, I don't think a new FPS w/o MP will sell well.Deathtransit
It won't be CoD or Battlefield numbers, but it'll still sell very well especially for a small indie studio.

Yes indeed. I was playing Black Ops recently, through Veteran and I can't understand how people play this. Enemies, Move Forward (to make them stop coming), Another Set of Enemies, Move Forward (to make them stop coming), Another Set of Enemies, Move Forward (to make them stop coming), Another Set of Enemies, Move Forward (to make them stop coming), Another Set of Enemies,

all Veteran does is turn the Auto Aim on the enemies super high. Oh, your finger got out of cover (half of your health is gone). seriously? Anyways, I'm looking forward to this game. Might be priced around 29.99$ as well, which is good.

Why even bother playing Call of Duty on veteran? It isn't very fun.

Definitely. I just played through Crysis 2 on Super Soldier almost entirely out of boredom. While I do love the fights and set pieces the game offers, I hate the segments where you basically have to sit there and listen to people talking. It may have been interesting the first time but when I just want to shoot things I really hate listening to Gould talk about cephalopods, for example.
I'm not trashing these type of shooters, per se, I like a lot of them but they all feel the same. Hard Reset will be different and I'm hoping the new Serious Sam won't sell it's soul to appeal to a larger demographic as well.
[QUOTE="Nolakk"]Its a low budget game and from what i have seen it looks mediocre, i don't get why all the fuss with this.[deleted]So what is if its a low budget game? So of my favorite games this gen are low budget indie titles.. Apparently you need to spend 10's of millions on a game for it to be good.

You also need to advertise it like hell to prove that it's worth playing.

Don't forget sending reviewers a luxurious vacation so they score that instead of the actual game.

some of us like the fusion of the two...cinematic experience.
This!! I love the idea of this game and the other new ip...Dishonored... Games going back to the quake /theif style of level design with multiple ways through and not linear paths with cinematics and "Set peices"....this gen has been a big disappointment to me because ot it. All I ever think is, wow how nice would it be if devs made games like last gen but with todays graphics.... This goes for RPGS , FPS, Turn based strategy, RTS, Space Sims, Adevnture etc.... no instead the devs have to make everything "Set Peices, linear with tons of stupid scripting". Oh and enough with the stupid Marines and military Shooters...hell I would prefer last gens WW2 over this modern warfare crap. It's not an interactive movie on rails like most modern shooters

I personally think it breaks immersion to have control ripped from my hands, and it hurts replay value.
Just the sound of it NOT being a "cinematic experience" has me excited :)

And I am not one of them!!Give me old school over this new school "Set Pieces" always at "11/10 for Action with no pause" any day. I want long intricate level design, like thief, Quake 2, spinter cell, Stalker, Deus Ex, filled with emergent gameplay where you decide how to play, where to go and how to advance.
I don't like hand-holding, long tutorials that treat you like a baby, or big arrows that tell you where to go. Give me health paks and an inventory system, a large one that i can stack items and move them around in a grid.
Yeah I love my old school games, and anymore it takes a lot for me to buy a new game. I was buying every new game that looked intersting, then I realized none of these games were timeless. They all feel the same.
I reinstall the first 3 theif games, the first 3 splinter cell games, baldurs gate, ARcanum, fallout 1 and 2, vampire bloodlines, half-life 2, and all these games feel timeless... I can feel the care given to them. They are more substance than flash. And I love that. If a dev gives me that in this gen, it's a guaranteed purchase!
I'm a bit mixed on this game, they claim old school but they haven't really captured my interested,
edit: i think the frantic running and gunning just doesn't do it for me, with ridiculously overepowered weapons, its hard to beet earth defense force at the moment, and even that supports co-op.
If this game has a good leveling system like i heard and to some extent intelligent gameplay where just running and gunning will get you killed, and some really good level designes where finding your way isn't as easy as heading down 1 long corridor, it should be great.

Looks pretty sweet, they got my attention immediately by not including multiplayer. Way to go devs! I will be keeping an eye on this game for sure. They almost hit it out of the park just from the price point, why anyone would complain about a low price is beyond me...
