Hard Reset Redux release date set for June

15-minute gameplay video shows Shadow Warrior dev's latest.

Hard Reset Redux, the remastered version of Flying Wild Hog's shooter debut, will launch on PS4, Xbox One and PC on 3rd June.

This will mark Hard Reset's console premiere, as the original 2011 game was a PC-exclusive.

Since Hard Reset's launch, Flying Wild Hog has gone on to make Shadow Warrior and the impending shadow Warrior 2 (which looks quite promising).

Hard Reset Redux is set in a The Terminator-like future where mankind is being killed off by a race of highly intelligent machines.

This remastering adds a new quick-dash maneuver, a katana, new enemies, rearranged placement of old foes, enhanced visuals and performance, and other gameplay tweaks.

"Hard Reset Redux re-energises Flying Wild Hog's cyberpunk shooter for a new audience with an upgraded visual engine and rebalanced gameplay, along with new enemies and weaponry," publisher Gambitious Digital Entertainment said of this remaster, which it boasted contains "no level grinding fluff."

Doom looks more fun.

I hope Hard Reset gets a sequel, seeing what Flying Wild Hog is doing with Shadow Warrior 2 makes me think of what they could do with a Hard Reset sequel.

I hope there's a katana patch for owners of the original PC version. I enjoyed both the original and the Extended Edition.

pretty much this and i love both games. cant wait for redux edition and hope it lead to development of Hard reset 2. I prefer Sci fi setting of hard reset over fantasy of shadow warrior

I'm guessing PC owners of the original game wiill either get this for cheap or for free. Free would be nice, but I'd be willing to pay another 15 bucks for the upgrade.

The movement mechanics of this game isnt all that fast, or all that tight; it just has the benefit of you being able to backpedal faster than most 'Modern FPS" titles. It's one of my biggest criticisms of that game, among its piss weak shotgun and its linear level structure.

You also dont really need all that much precision in how the game was focused on weapon interaction between its AoE heavy arsenal.

I will probably pick this up I didn't realise it was coming out so soon.

Hard Reset was pretty fun, but the environments and enemies became really boring after a while, imo. Nothing I'm eager to play again..

Heard the game is short, this true?

@Ant_17: Depends on the difficulty, hard is in this is actually hard.

The base pc release had a free expansion with extends it (for me) to about 10-13 hours. On lower settings it will takes about 5-6 I'm guessing.

What a lame looking game.

The only gimmick it had was that it was 'old school' during CoD/Halo's halcyon days. It's been made utterly obsolete by the new wave of old school shooters, however, including Flying Hog's own Shadow Warrior, and DOOM.

I don't think the investment in the redux was worth it.

Yes, obsolescence makes sense with the element of time, which is why your comment ended in a 'wut' -- you had no concept of time in your understanding.

Two critically acclaimed 'old school' games that have been released five years later have made a previous 'old school' game obsolete. There can be a variety of factors to this, including hindsight and knowledge of what constitutes 'old school'.

But to be honest , I'm just calling it obsolete because Hard Reset was plain shit when it came out. It's like when you see 3 girls at the bar wearing elevator shoes and mini skirts (Crysis 2, CoD MW3, Killzone 3), but there's one girl at the club and she's wearing an elegant dress (Hard Reset). Only problem is, she bought that dress at Walmart and she's a butterface.

Your time in 2011 was better spent playing the original Doom for an old school fix.

Actually this game is a lot more of a thinking FPS compared to DOOM. More like the Terminator era, killing robots etc. Very futuristic, and great shooter. I have the original from 2011, and thought it looked and played great. Very underrated. Will only cost around 20$. Great game.

Looks like it plays exactly like a futurist shadow warrior.
