My Gamecube, Xbox, and 360 all failed me. They all had the exact same problem too. Disk drive failure.Guppy507
Oh, this problem hasn't occured on any of my system:) but based on games have those systems failed you also?
In terms of buying a system and not having it deliver with the games, I would say the Virtual Boy on my end. It was a gift for Christmas and I never got any games for it afterwards. The stand then broke for it and it's been in my closet ever since.
From the older Generations only my fat PS2 died on me , my launch 360 , 60 GB PS3 and Wii are still going strong !
I expect a lot of fakeboys with Ylod and RROD to be here here soon though .
Nopeity nopeity noooooooo.
My Wii stopped working because my sister shoved a second disc in, but I don't really think that counts. :P
I haven't had console hardware fail yet. The PC? Plenty. The wear and tear I have no problems with. I had no problems with PC hardware prior to 2001. The PC hardware (specifically motherboards) I bought from 2001 to 2005 were the absolute worst so far. Out of 2 laptops and 4 PCs plus one iBook during that time frame, only one laptop and one PC survived to this day. The rest all had bad main boards.
I also have PC and Mac hardware from 2006 onwards. None of them have problems as we speak. So, I can make a fairly reasonable assumption that many PC hardware failures were due to the bad capacitor plague which were at its peak from 2001 to 2005.
Yes sir.
My PS1, several PS2's, a PS3, a PSP, andan Xbox 360.
Edit: Almost forgot the NDS - Side Note: How great are Nintendo Customer services? Atleast in the UK ... They dont ask for warrenty, serial number or anything. They just send me a label and bam. Get it back all fixed in a couple days (Repair centre is about 10 miles away)
Compare that with the hoops MS make you jump through, despite their console breaking down a bajillion times more then Nintendos, and SONY who just refuse to fix anything, even if it's in Warrenty and you have a winnner.
i had 2 gameboys that started getting yellow vertical lines. they got worse and worse until over half the screen wasnt visible. this happened to both of them
my ps2 got DRE
i have had numerous PC's fail me over the years for multiple reasons.
I have nearly 20 consoles. A LOT of them are from their launch day. The ONLY one ive ever had fail on me is the 360. Got one at launch, it died 8 months later. I bought another 360 and its been in for repair 5x now. They are the only console I can say thats truly JUNK.
If you are talking about systems with no games, which I suspect you are then the only thing that comes to mind is my PSP. I really just never found much to play on that. Which is why I don't own it anymore.
If you are talking about actual system failures, which seems to be the direction this thread is taking then I have had 2 PS2s fail, both for disc drive errors. Also I had 1 PS3 fail 3 times for different things. That's really about it except my NES did the typical not reading the cartridge thing, but a $6 - 72 Pin connector fixed it right up. Everything else I have ever bought still works, or worked up until I sold it.
ps3 and wii failed me.
this gen i bought a wii, a 360 and then a ps3. last gen i had gamecube and ps2 and loved them both so i had high expectations for both companys products this time. but neither dleivered on games early enough or well enough.
360 has had impressive games since the first year and they felt next gen. the wii still hasn't delivered a "new" experience, and ps3 took too long to have something fresh and competitive. most ps3 games feel like more polished last gen games to me then like current gen, and i was really dissapointed in how dated the ps3 controller after having used the same controller for the past two generations.
with the difference in price of systems and quality of multiplats i committed to my 360 long before my ps3 and i think it will remain my secondary system, the only mutliplat i got for it (at full price) has been arkham asylum and tat was for the joker and i am pretty sure i will be getting arkham city for 360.
most nes errors are from corrosion of the connectors on the cartridge. this can be fixed with very fine sand paper and 409. also you can open an nes up and use an optical screwdriver (it's just a small screwdriver) and lightly bend the pins up to tighten the grip. I was a regional manager for a small video game chain back in the day. I've done a lot of nes repairs. If you are talking about systems with no games, which I suspect you are then the only thing that comes to mind is my PSP. As a gaming system, the PS3 has really been a let down for me. I have trouble even finsihing the exclusives that I do buy for it. The best feature is the bluray player which I love very much.
you can say some pretty negative things about the ps2 but for me not delivering on games would not be one of them. Some video-game consoles that I have purchased have costed over $200.00 and doesn't even deliver with the games. It has basically failed me. The only system that has done that would be my Playstation 2.

i don't even see how it is possible to make that complaint.
After going through all the responses, it seems most people didn't understand the question; myself included. At first I thought he was asking if any systems had broken down on you, but it seems the TC is just asking if you have been disappointed with any console.
For me, the answer is no. I make sure I research a console before making the purchase.
I'll also add that my Playstation 1 and 2 broke down on me once. =P
Oh. In that case, the N64 was a let down for me. It only had a handful of games that I really enjoyed. Not saying the N64 was terrible, it had some great games, but for me the SNES had a much larger library of great games.
Only one console with a hardware failure in the past 20 years of gaming, Xbox 360. My original NES and Genesis still work. As far as failing to impress me as an owner, the Gamecube.
