Has gaming become fashionable?

In a recent thread the PS3s visual appearance came into discussion(check my posting history to read), but it got me thinking.

"Has gaming become fashionable?"

Last-Generation conpanies such as decalgirl.com and colorware(was console creations I believe back then) offered you skins for your console or automotive high quality paint on your console. 

Nintendo has always released different color variants of it's hardware since the Gameboy Color. (Wife has a Pink DS Lite)

Sony has the new white PSP, and silver PS2.  

MS releases a black 360.  

I've never really thought about it until today, but what do you think?

Gaming will never be cool, especially for people 20+. It's looked on as something people with serious mental issues do. Just look at the way gamers are demonised on the press and the news, they think we're scum.

Gaming will never be cool to society, we're the shameful son of society that must be locked away from normal people.
