Has installing FW 2.4 affected any PS3 users badly?

I will be able to comment back in about an hour and a half when I update.

I'm at work now reading up on some peoples problems with it.

Even though I should wait, i'll probably install it anyway, seeing as I dont have work tomorrow or friday i want to play call of duty all night so i'll have to update.

I think a hand full of PS3 users got affected emotionally. Because they expected atleast more than one games that was on the Sony list to be trophy compatible from the get go. Also, some might be a little disappointed to find out that you can't play music in game, and also disappointed to find out that the in game xmb moves slightly slower than the regular xmb. Apparently Sony copied the slight lag from the XBL blades.

I know but like I said I believe having a poll would give everyone a better perspective on how widespread the problem is, and correct me if im wrong but wasn't there reports of previous firmware update problems that where caused by people who had consoles from territories that didn't match their PSN accounts territory?

Lemmings would just say that they are getting affected.. even though they do not own the system, best do these kind of polls on at least the Playstation 3 board...

I myself have no idea, My MGS4 wasn't working yesterday, it had a disk coming up in the top left corner with a question mark and today I tried to play the online portion and it did the same thing as the actual game. I tried ejecting the disk and now when I put the disk back in the console. All that happens is the disk is there, but no image with Snake and no music when you are on the icon for the game, and when you try to click on it to play, it just goes back to the XMB and says the start up process wasn't working( or something along those lines) So I may take it back tomorrow to GAME with my receipt and get a new copy.

It affected me and I'm yet to resolve, I just finished installing it and when the ps3 reboots and shows "Sony Entretainment" then the wavy lines come up. I wait for the User list to appear but it just stays there. also found out my controller can't turn it on, I have to walk up to my Ps3 and turn it on. I just finsihed emailing PS3 support just now.

God, and a moment ago I was reading some threads about people having problems and thought it was all a lie and it would'nt happen to me. It seems that only some Ps3s are affected and I just have bad luck.

Damn it! I hope none of my files are damaged. But most of the time I just play COD4 and MGO online.

What do you mean? Meaning buy a new one? And I shouldn't do anything until Sony contacts me. Messing with my HDD might void my warranty or something.

Well, considering 2.4 was out in like 2007, likely not :P

However, I've heard some bad things have happened with 2.40, myself, it installed fine like all ps3 updates because I don't turn my machine off during install when it says "DO NOT TURN OFF WHILE UPDATING" :P

I gotta know, for someone "with a ps3" why does every bad thing that could possibly happen, even mis-reported things like the software fix error code that people claimed bricked the machines they didn't have, happen to you?

Don't get salty at the fact that I'm salty that I wasted money on a console that wasn't even HD ready, has like no games, what games it does have are feverishly overrated (Resistance is utter crap), and now it bricks itself. It took my 360 2 3/4 years, an IED explosion, the desert heat and 10k gamerpoints to RRoD.

It took one download on my BS3 to frag itself. Awesome.

Well, my ps3 lived through Chernobyl, took a direct nuclear blast, I've got 7 arms now, but, it still operates just fine :P

It hasn't affected me at all because i haven't been able to download it! says ive got the lastest update wen its only 2.36 apparntly it has ldz of errors and needs patching which is lame since all my m8s 's ones are working

the question is wen am i and every other 2.36er guna get it
