Has online for Smash Bros Brawl been confirmed by Nintendo?

Its my most anticipated Wii game, and I can't wait to play it, but I'm getting worried.

Its just a few months from release, and there hasn't been any mention of online play as far as I know... You'd think they would have said something by now?

If someone has a link to a reliable source of some kind, to confirm online play, I will be greatful, and my fears will be put at bay.

They have confirmed it. There just not ready to talk about it yet. As for you other people (aka fanboy) keep making up excuses y online wont be great. Just jealous you dont have a Wii.

No they haven't confirmed it and in an interview I read on Joystiq.com a while back, it simply said that there were no plans for an online ranking system and that not much priority was placed on it.Osafune24

Yeah I just found that its from June 6th of 2006, so I would think things have changed since then. Especially with a game like Mario Strikers where they have leader boards and a pretty good online system, it wouldnt be too hard for them to use that same setup for Brawl. Sakurai really seems to listen to fans and everyone is calling for online with good features, so I believe he'll come through.

The A.I. in Smash games is terrible. I mean... the moves are just so expected. Get anywhere near Ganondorf and he'll Up B you.

Still -- i usually play with friends when i play smash. Online not being their would bother a lot of fans, me, i dont really care if its there or not.

I hope it has online, because most of my friends don't like games that much, and Smash Bros games have always had terrible AI. If I want to practise advanced stuff like teching or wave dashing then I need real people.

Smash has so much depth, I hate when people say its a kids game.

Strikers is virtually little to no lag online. Brawl if done the same, will be little to no lag online.

dude there's no link.....I been looking for it myself in hopes. The ONLY thing you can dig up saying that there in fact is online is an E3 2006 dev interview at IGN saying online is planned. Since then everything has pointed to no online and Nintendo has not closed the rumours in recent intreviews I've seen on Gametrailers or with E3 (you tout Madden online and Fifa, but no mention of SSBB)
