Honestly, how many of you guys skipped on the Nintendo console because of it not being HD and not as powerful as the 360 and PS3?
This topic is locked from further discussion.
I skipped it because it doesn't appeal to me, and neither do most of the games.
Don't get me wrong, as I can appreciate why people would enjoy it. It's just not for me.
If I didn't already own one it'd be a pretty low priority purchase. The 3DS is looking like it will get more good games than the Wii ever will, and I'd be able to get my Nintendo fix on it too. For third-party games more generally, PC, 360 and PS3 all have an obviously superior lineup when you include multiplats.
So what niche does the Wii fill? It has some good (generally not AAA) exclusive games, so it's a nice secondary console. If you're a completionist like me and like to play all the exclusive games out there, it's definitely a justifiable purchase. But if push came to shove I'd say it's overall a pretty skippable console.
And while it's not the be-all end-all of a system, the last-gen quality graphics don't make it any more appealing.

what about the HD consoles sharing most of their games with the Pc? does that make them better consoles than the Wii?

It's not quite that simple, though. Of the PS3's 35 AAAs, for example, 19 are shared with PC -- which means the PS3 still has 16 AAAs that aren't shared with PC [in contrast the Wii has 8 AAAs not shared with PC].Most of the PS3's AAs aren't shared with the PC either. Resonance of Fate, Final Fantasy XIII, Tekken 6, Brutal Legend, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, NHL 10, Guitar Hero 5, Eternal Sonata, Rock Band 2, Soulcalibur IV, Condemned 2: Bloodshot, MLB 08: The Show...
...I don't have the energy to go through them all, but a lot of PS3's 102 AAs actually aren't on PC. And despite popular opinion, the same is true of the 360's 126 AAs as well.
Likewise, the PC has a whole bunch of AAs that aren't on 360/PS3. 96 AA-AAAE exclusives in total. I wouldn't say owning both a PC and an HD console is a necessity by any means, but it actually unlocks more games than buying a Wii would.
ye pretty much my thoughts exactly... the wii is just missing out on TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO many games compared to what we are missing out on.I skipped it because it doesn't appeal to me, and neither do most of the games.

the Wii got 70 games not shared with any systems Maybe I should've clarified... I was talking about AA+s. I don't own or purchase many A titles... I think I own maybe one. But if that's people's thing then I guess the Wii is a good choice?Anyway, in the end it all comes down to personal preferences. I own a Wii. It's an okay system. Not great. PC + PS3 actually unlocks more AA+ games, which is a little secret people can't tell just by looking at the SW chart.

the Wii got 70 games not shared with any systems but can u honestly say that all 70 of those games are great?[QUOTE="aia89"][QUOTE="SakusEnvoy"] It's not quite that simple, though. no, but same can be said about the ps3 and 360 no?
Move has everything wii has plus more and 360 has no exclusives unless you count kinect and want a cat simulator.

Except..you know..good games.
No. I bought it. I simply don't play it because of weak graphics. Wii games looks like doo doo on 1080p tv's. It's exclusively reserved for my wife's party gaming needs.Honestly, how many of you guys skipped on the Nintendo console because of it not being HD and not as powerful as the 360 and PS3?

Yeah, I know--wasn't being too serious. I think I'll finally get a wii when zelda comes out. Maybe I'll go ahead and get the few wii games you need and call it a day...
Wii
Mario Galazy 1&2
Zelda SS
Metroid Other M
Donkey Kong
...
64 version of Smash Bros is still the best one so far.

Hmmm. The thought didn't even occur to me and my kid.
I don't see why anyone would not buy the Wii for the graphics unless they've completely forgot what games are about. However, I can understand if people just aren't attracted by the system, which is a case for any system overall. Like me with the PC and 360, they just don't appeal to me.
i just dont think i need one, with ps3 i feel like i have everything :D
especially with the addition of m0ve, the future is bright for ps3 :)
no. i sold it because of its sorry line-up. the old school nintendo fanchises are good (but fading) but nintendo hasnt released one new IP that is worth a damn this gen and the 3rd party games have made the wii the biggest trash bin console in gaming history. and the few that have been good are being redone on HD consoles or where already bettered 10 years ago.
I was burned last generation buying Nintendo to learn that when judging Nintendo games, take the scores and hype that most the vocal supporters give them, and subtract about half. Nintendo could release a solitaire simulation and as long as it had 25 year old Nintendo characters, it's 10/10 with some people.
The poor hardware, the controls which do not suit most games and are difficult for long play games mean I was never going to buy it but the fact that the graphics were so far behind was more confirmation that I made the right decision.
There is no Arkham Asylum on Wii, no New Vegas, nor could there ever be, and let's not pretend the lack of power is just about graphics.
[QUOTE="ferret-gamer"]graphics were not the reasons for me not buying a wii.Santesyusame here the wii just looks and feels stale and outdated to me..
so do the 360 and ps3 as far as tech is concerned. barely 30 fps and 720, they can't even be called HD consoles imo. at least the Wii is not a wannabe Pc imo
Well you sir are intellectually miles ahead of the average person in SW who can't even possibly contemplate what anyone sees in the Wii.I skipped it because it doesn't appeal to me, and neither do most of the games.

I skipped it because $250 for what it offers it's a rip-off. Even at $200 it still... The PS3 was $600 but it was HD and it came with blu-ray, decent online capabilities, PS2/PS1 BC, etc.
I hope their next console comes with Wii BC so I can buy all the games I missed and with a better online component because those friendcodes were/edit: "are"a mess.
