Has the PS4 already won?

With Durango having worst specs, a focus on kinect, no announced games and a presumably higher price point, has the PS4 already won this generation?


It''ll be announced within 2 weeks and all the games + excitement released with it, it's looking highly unlikely that M$ will ever be able to keep up with the Sony powerhouse.

Playstation is in good shape right now, as long as they dont make a huge mistake like blocking used games or something ridiclulous like that, they should be able to take the lead again.

What's constitutes as a win? All people argued about last gen were sales, so if that's still the criteria then I say who gives a f*ck who "wins".

It's too early to say. I'd have to wait first for Sony and MS to come clean with the specs and then see what the games are. There are also the little things. An example of one is this if true only on the PS4:

Yes. Sony is making great decisions compared to last gen with the PS3's launch. MS seems to be making some poor decisions. Better luck next gen Microsoft.

i just find it it extremely funny that ps3 rumour had came out about locking used games. Then xbox rumour comes and it's like ps3 rumour NEVER HAPPEN

We don't know specs for either console.

Weaker console has always won in sales.

If specs are better
If developers are making better and bigger games
If online infrastructure works and there is some kind of backwards compatibility
If it makes a substantial household item as a console media entertainment system...

Then yeah, it looks like a gamers winning console.

I think Microsofts focus on Kinect is one of the biggest reasons why the PS3 was able to come back.

Yep, MS understands the power of advertising. All they have to do is show a happy middle class family smiling and dancing around in front of their TV with an upbeat tune and people will buy it. They can keep making Halo games and most likely another high budget IP next gen and along with 3rd party games, that seems to be enough for the average core gamer.

Unless the new Kinect becomes this gens Wiimote and cashes in before the bubble bursts.

I don't get the hate for motion games. Why does it have to be always either or between core games and motion games? There's plenty of room for both. I see plenty of 360 Kinect owners still playing core games. I don't see them wiggling their butts while playing Just Dance....except maybe the girls.

i have no interest in buying a kinect.

 I think both MS and Sony are going to have a hard time this nextgen. The casual market has moved more towards IOS and Android based platforms, that only leaves core gamers and old school collector types. Sure, Madden and COD will still move some units, but will that be enough? I've been a console gamer over the past two generations, but my PC that has better specs the rumored new console hardware. I doubt I will buy a new PS or Xbox when I would rather put the money into a better TV so I can have a more console like experience(Gaming from the couch instead of my desk). I'm more interested in the next generation of games that aren't handicapped by the limitations of seven year old hardware.

How PS4 can win THIS generation if it´s not even released yet :lol:

And we all know that NEXT gen will be be dominated by PC.

If Sony announces it by E3 or earlier, keeps online free. allows used games, makes it $449 or less, and doesn't do anything stupid with the controls like Nintendo did with the Wii U then it's a done deal. If MS goes through with only new games and a constant online connection required in addition to Sony doing everything right it will make it a lot easier. Nintendo with Wii U is already 3rd as it's hardware is too weak to be considered a threat.
