Has there ever been a game that wasnt hyped, but got AAA??

I would assume that as long as gamers of been on websites like GameSpot that no great game has been unhyped. Now, back 6 years ago or more, when this wasn't the main source for gamer news, this could happen, fairly easily.

You see, what we are getting here are guesses. Shoot, I could just throw some titles out there and act like I have a clue. But I don't. And neither should all of you.

Does anyone have any real-life proof of any unhyped AAA titles?

I don't think C&C3 had a hype thread, but PC games don't tend to get many hype threads.jrhawk42

Hah of course there have been games that got AAA and werent hyped!! Half-Life didnt have much hype for examle

My guess is that Warioware on Wii wasn't hyped AAA by many. Of course most people including Wii owners still don't consider that a true AAA.actionquake

Yeah, just like we consider TP or MP3 AAA but they weren't. Well, I guess it compensates, somehow.

Also, I don't quite remember if it was hyped big or not, but I know that at least 80% of the gaming world thought that Metroid Prime was going to be a horrible, horrible mistake.

Panzer Dragoon Orta didn't get much hype. One of the best games of last gen, too.sonicare

and one of the shortest :( atleast the last boss wasnt easy to beat.

all the game needed was some co-op :) of course inorder to do that the developers would have had to redo the whole game and make it freeroam
