A patch for damage is coming out for GT5P. Lemming are just desperate to own people. RazMaTaz-1
Thats not coming anytime soon, but online will be up the 25th! SWEET :) I don't know why they complain, there not even going to play the game.
I don't know what Forza you have played, but it's definately not the same as what I have. In Forza, as certain parts of your car become damaged, it has cosmetic effects but it also effects steering, acceleration, and general handling. That's as realistic as it gets bud.Forza 2s damage is horrible.
Can we stop talking about something that doesn't matter. No time soon will we see a sim racer with "real" damage.

Yes, GT5 has been confirmed to have damage. And GT1-4 have been confirmed to be horrible games. :)_pulser_NO WAI! Since when?!?!?!

Yeah.. its as realistic as any game as been so far. But it isn't even close to real. If you crash your car at a speed like they do in the game, your going to be dead, not drving at extremely slow speeds, with a massive oversteer and a slightly crunched front bumber with scratches on the side of your car.
Sorry but to me, thats not real.
THEY WILL TRY TO ADD GT5 IN IT
right now, it is not done ... probably not even started
it's a promise they might not respect, don't hype it too much dude,
and IF they end up putting damage in it, they will have like 10 months to 12 to add the damage effects, so will it end up looking like forza 2 crappy damage ?? i definitly hope not
If you were a real car enthusiast you would want all the features that were in Forza and Forza 2 in Grand Turismo 5. I'm sick of the "Damage and car customization aren't needed" argument.
There's no excuse not to include those features. Don't even dare say it's because they want the damage to be "perfect" either, that's by far the most retarded argument I have ever heard from a cow.
They've had all this time to bring out the game yet Prologue doesn't have online up, there's no damage, it isn't true 1080p like promised, there's major screen tearing and shadow pop-ins and to top it all off they want you to pay $40 for it.
Stop being tools, don't put up with it.
Wow, lots of people are wrong. :|
Quote:Additionally, because Gran Turismo 5 is dealing with hundreds of cars, covering virtually every manufacturer, some car brands still don't want to see their cars getting damaged, while others don't mind. And so the issue is out of Polyphony's hands, forcing them to prevent certain cars from being damaged. So while most should be damageable, there will be some that won't be.

Who cares if it has daage. Would you really want to mess up those Sexy Looking cars anyway? black_awpN1
Who said anyone wanted to? Sometimes racers wreck. I bet they didn't want to wreck...
Forza 2s damage is horrible.
GT5P lack of damage is horrible.
And GT5s damage will be horrible.

Lemmings didn't word it like this "most should be" that's not exactly a hard confirmation.

I care. Damage keeps the people racing from acting like idiots. Damage ads realism so it's actually a "simulator". In real life you cant bouce off other cars or the wall to help you go around a corner faster. You have to break ahead of time.
Without damage they should call it GT5 "The Real BumperCar Simulator"
I'd rather have an ugly game w/ fantastic physics & damage than a pretty game w/ bland physics and sterile gameplay anyday.

ugh, bright yellow text. and when ive been looking at a monitor all day. eyes hurt.
well apparently the developers of gran tourismo 5 have certainliscenced cars in the game, some manufacturers just dont have to resources or interest to spend thier time and effort fighting over cars in video games.... but other manufacturers like mercedes for instance might not want their cars to look any way other than pristine.... therefore in GT5 it is possible that certain cars may not have damage in the final version due to diplomatic discrepencies. :( penguino726
Look at this car list. Look at the manufacturers. All of these makers have approved car damage. All of these manufacturers consented. Mercedes is one of them. Now tell me thats the real reason.

Name one game that does damage better/more realistic than Forza 2.
Lemmings are trying to own us as much as possible BEFORE the damage patch comes out. They are THAT desparate. :?Rikusaki
Can someone explain this phenomenon of calling people who disagree with you lemmings? Is that the new hip insult? A lemming is someone who blindly follows a pack of other people to their death.
Considering the evidence, damage doesn't seem to be a very high priority. I have my suspicions why. The same reason why GT:HD was higher res than GT:P and GT:5 will be lower res than GT:P (check beyond3D's console tech "Never Ending Upscale Discussion" thread). Sony wants GT5 to be as pretty as possible, and damage ESPECIALLY persistent damage will eat into their processing power noticeably, not to mention their memory
(which is a problem on the PS3, yes it can share memory; but there's a latency & speed trade-off since the XDR is fast but has high latency & the DDR3 is slower but has fast latency. However as anyone who knows anything about sharing memory can tell you, you only get the WORST of both. So you end up w/ ram as fast as GDDR3 but w/ as much latency as XDR. This is why Ubisoft said the PS3 was presenting memory problems. This is why games are usually lacking extra objects in dual console versions (cars, people, fences, etc.) Check Eurogamers 360 PS3 Face-off for proof)
And so the issue is out of Polyphony's hands, forcing them to prevent certain cars from being damaged. So while most should be damageable, there will be some that won't be.
