What's up with all the PS3 haters on Damage control? Just because Sony lowered the price to 400$ it seems like every hater is fearing their doom. I don't wanna be here when PS3 reaches 200$. Then SW will burn with trolls.

Considering that a Euro is $1.41 USD, that still is alot, plus there are cheaper Blu-Ray players around, if you must have one.

R:FOM,Motorstorm,Warhawk,Heavenly Sword and Folklore (for some) + all the multiplats that recieved more attention on 360.

Nobody wants to pay $400 for Haze, Uncharted and Ratchet.

In response to TC's huge post:

1. I didn't mention online because I only mentioned the complete package. Online is part of what it's offering now.

2. There's some good games of course, but there's quite a chance you'll only like half of them because of personal taste. Remember that the number of games that are well rated doesn't reflect how a random person thinks of them.

3. Well, we don't actually see that as very cheap. I live in holland anyways, and the xbox 360 also started at 400 euros. Both xbox 360 and PS3 are expensive.

Both Wii and 360 have great value bundles in PAL regions, the PS3 does not because it is too expensive ($1000 AUD).

Sony has lowered the price, what? Twice now? Within its first year of release. They mocked Microsoft for having the Core, Premium, and Elite... but then have a 80gb, 60gb, and a 40gb? Then they remove B/C after Cows and Sony bragged so much about having the backing of PS2/P21. Does that mean the end of cows using God of War 2 as a game for the PS3 library?

The PS3 has a lackluster library with a huge pricetag. Lowering it and removing features that its competition has, on its cheaper console, while keeping other unnessesary ones is just not great for the consumer. Defend the system all you want -- hell, love it more than anything on this planet. But don't begin to defend Sony and claim removing the BC was not a **** thing to do and do not begin to claim that lowering the price so much within a year isn't desperate.

If you are biased enough too look at more SKU changes than any other console in the history of gaming in it's first year since launch as a positive thing, than that is up to you. But you'll have to excuse me if I disagree. If they were 100% confident in their product than they wouldn't need to shuffle it around so much.

Notice how my boy Phil says CORE value? "Core" is a pretty strong word. It's pretty powerful. What happens if you take the core from something at the expense of price? Is it unreasonable to believe that a company would have to be pretty desperate to abandon it's core?

Yes, it must be damage control...for there is absolutely nothing wrong with the PS3 or any of its games.

Yes the $600 price tag did imply they were overconfident...thnking consumers would just snap it up because of all the hype and Playstation name

after, nobody bought it, and nobody cared, they have to introduce 2 more SKUS with 3 more hardware revisions, each more gimped than the last all within the FIRST YEAR.

I have been a gamer for a long time, and never seen anything like this before. Now I dont care what happens, as long as I get to play my games, but yes this looks like desperation move to me, when you remove BC of probably one of the best systems ever in video game history. Especially how they came about talking S**t about MS backward compatibility model. I agree MS 360 BC compatibility strategy isnt ideal, but hey, at least is has SOMETHING.

If your planning on getting a PS3 you better get a used one, or get 60GB thats still on the shelves.

I think it's $399 here (Australia), so for an extra $100 you get two games and an extra wiimote, etc.

Even at the lower price in Europe they will lose less per unit (if considering the price of each unit to build isin American dollars) I still think that they may only have the 80gig here and lower the price a little bit. Also how is it that Sony can take features away and everyone thinks this is a good thing?? All MS has done is add more features and actually lowered the price as well. First its Sony saying that the PS3 is gonna replace computers (which they have changed their minds on) ...then rumble is good again Now Backwards compatibility is no longer needed? They have said not too long ago that they were going with just one sku here and that would be the 80gig.
