Have 360 game's graphics hit a wall?

Last game with great graphics...Gears.  That was 6 months ago!  Halo 3 is a step down in graphics.  Forza 2 backgrounds look WORSE than PGR's and are full of jaggies.  Shouldn't graphics continually get better or at least stay the same quality?  Why bungie didn't use the unreal engine for there game is beyond me and how the Forza 2 developers could let the terrible environments pass there inspection is beyond me.

I know there are some games coming up that show some promise, but as to the here and now, I expect a little more for my $$ and the amount of time developers have had to make these games.

I doubt you will see anything beyond Gears. Minor tweaks here and there but thats pretty much the top of the heap.

 I have played the Beta and let me tell you it plays 99.9% identicle to Halo2 and the graphics are 90% the same, but with higher resolutions and slightly more detail.  When I look at these two things and then realize Bungie has had almost 4 years to improve on these areas yet they are essentially the same, i wonder WTF has been going on?

I hate to tell you but if you think that the single player campaign is going to look leaps and bounds over the multiplayer you are in denial.

Keep up with Halo 3 news. They said (multiple sources) that single player part of Halo 3 is way better looking then the multiplayer part of it.

Urm, no. Gears was 6.5GB.

Your logic is totally flawed when you consider Oblivion, another game that didn't fill the DVD9 with a hundreds of hours of gameplay, loads of onscreen enemies and huge draw distances.

I agree, they say alot of things.

But why do "cow's" hype UT3 as Gears of War killer? At least they used to before Epic dropped the bomb on them an announced it was coming for 360.

thing is, most people went and grabbed a 360 at launch for the graphics. It was marketed as being the next big thing in graphics and pretty much the first consumer device you could hook up to a HDTV and let it run in it's higher resolutions. Xbox live is great, but xbox had that and the changes are an evolution, not a revolution. People expect hot graphics out of this thing. How many lemmings have stood up and be counted saying that while the ps3 has the best CPU, the 360 owns in the graphics chip dpt? Ok, if thats true, why are we driving around in forza in lego cars and coming out with damage limitation statements to the effect that gameplay is better that graphics? To some extent, it does seem this thing has indeed hit a big wall. On the other hand, there does seem to be a pattern emerging with devs; the ones that tend to cancel release dates and push them back, tend to deliver underwhelming games..... orangeonxbox

the ps3 is a different story, but then, sony never hyped the graphics power of the ps3 only "teh cell" and bluray...

Gears is merely a taste of what's to come..  

if that game came out at the one year mark, imagine how great the games will look at the 3,4 and 5 year marks...:D

Both Lost Planet and Crackdown look incredible in HD. No, the 360 hasn't hit a graphics wall by any means. The Crackdown engine alone is honestly incredible when you play it and see it in action. Not saying its the best game ever, but the graphics and engine it runs on are defintely top notch and a preview of great things to come, IMO.

          Watch for the end of year XBLA game that shames any PS3 tittle out ( graphics wise only ) than the desperation of the PS3 fans should hit an all time high - me cant wait ;)

          Keeping that in mind - yeah a full 360 game will never surpass gears ( graphics wise ) GTHO !

 If you think halo 3 beta graphics, look like halo 2 graphics you are just blind. And bungie stated when the games is done the graphics will be much improved.
