Hi all,

As most of you has saw my previous post saying which console to buy.

i have bought my xbox first then recently just bought a ps 3. here's are my thoughts of both of the console.

please do not creat any flame wars.

this is quite useful for those who wish to buy new console but did not have any experience.

so i will share with u guys out there =P

Having owned both systems and played the same games on both systems I wanted to share the experiences I've had. I will not be going into technical details because they don't matter to me. What matters more is how the system plays and how much fun it is.

*Online Subscriptions: Xbox Live is a paid service while PSN is free but Sony will be introducing fees for a premium service. Day to day online gaming will still be free on PSN however. http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=227771

*Dashboard Vs XMB: I'm finding the 360 dashboard more intuitive to navigate with fewer sub-menus to get to what I want. I like the appearance of the XMB however. Just somehow has a more professional look and feel to it.

*Guide Vs PS Button: The PS button brings up the PS3's XMB while the Guide button doesn't bring up the dashboard but instead a series of tabs leading to menus.

*Controller Feel: 360 is easier to use. This is coming from someone who has been used to the Playstation controller since PS One days.

*Optical Cable: The PS3 does have the option of an optical output for digital sound into a receiver. Both consoles have HDMI so the advantage of the optical output is irrelevant to me. The receiver I use has HDMI inputs for combined Audio and Video so neither console has an advantage here.

*Framerates: It is NOTICABLEY better FPS on the 360 for games that I owned on both consoles. These included Oblivion, GTA4, Fallout3, Borderlands, Prototype, Soulcalibur 4.

*Exclusive Titles: Any titles that are released exclusively on each console do very well though. PS3's Uncharted 2, Ratchet & Clank, & Killzone 2 I really enjoyed.

*Power Supply: 360 has an external power supply while the PS3 doesn't.

*Console Appearance: I still think the piano black series 1 PS3 is the best looking console out there.

*HDD: The PS3 has an upgradable HDD which you can do yourself without voiding warranty. The 360's HDD is the most damn expensive HDD in the world for it's capacity and you can't change it. If it says 120GB, it will ALWAYS be 120 GB.

*Noise & Heat Levels: The 360 has improved it's noise levels A LOT since the first one came out. The DVD drive is still very noisy. Optiona gamel installations to the 360's HDD reduces noise dramatically during play. The PS3 is still the quietest machine. The PS3 is also cooler even with it's built in power supply. Xbox 360 slim now has 0 sound when ever i play my console with disc on it. (without installation.)

*HD Movies: Blu-ray has won the HD format war and the PS3 can already play movies on Blu-ray.

*Multiplayer: What's the point of multiplayer if you can't find people to play with or have cool friends to join? There are just more people on Live then there are on PSN so it's easier to find a game on Live.

*WiFi: This is built into the PS3 but the 360 will require additional purchase. With Xbox 360 slim now, it has WIFI...

*Support: In Australia, Xbox Live just has more support than PSN. PSN takes AGES to release DLC and rate games. There is just always more content on Live and it arrives faster than it does on PSN.

Feel free to correct and make additions to this list of comparisons from your own personal experiences. This will help others decide which system they want to buy aswell.

Just because you own both consoles does not mean you're no longer a 360 fanboy.

I own both consoles and I gotta say that it's pretty much the same, except you pay for online on one and you don't on the other.

thanks for giving your thoughts. controller wise, i believe depends on personal uses. if u love dual shock. great. that's nothing bad about each controller =) for the last answer. which is playing halo wit 12 yrs old kids? bah, i disagree wt it. i have play wit some only 11 yrs old or younger but they look friendly and very team work based, on a game which is left 4 dead 2. i have talk to him b4. he's from korea =) he's quite a nice guy to play wit. some of kids i have heard while playing killzone 2 multiplayer. when they lose, they keep shouting. but some kids is great player.. so i believe it's also depends on individual players =) cheers..

Shad0ki11

Pretty much, I'd wager most people here have a PC capable of playing some recent games on low settings yet some likely haven't even played a single PC game. Does that mean they aren't a fanboy against PC gaming and can speak out against it as much as they want based on their ownership and experiences? No, it does not.

Its just as dumb to make fun od a console you DON'T own, but this is a different kind of dumb.

I agree on pretty much everything except for a couple. You can updrade the HDD in the 360 without voiding the warranty, it comes out just like the PS3 HDD. Although it is proprietary and probably expensive if and when they make one for the new 360s. I don't k now about yours, but my 60 gig PS3 is just as loud as my 360 elite and just as hot.

Yeah, some people just can't help themselves. He actually looked as if he seemed to prefer the PS3 a bit more. I have both, and like both, but having preferences makes you a fanboy. I'm a gaming fanboy!! Good for you Executor 84.

Yeah, Shad0ki11 doesn't seem to like the fact that someone who owns a PS3 actually likes some of the 360 stuff! We all know there are things on each system that are better than each other, but if you truly enjoy gaming, you would want to get a 360, at least for the exclusive titles, because you could miss out on some killer titles, unless you have a PC. Although GEars 2 and Alan Wake aren't available on pc I think. I say if you can afford to get both!
