How many RE noobs are on this site honestly

The first 3 had a better atmoshphere way better puzzles, much more scary, and way better stories, and yes even better voice acting(master of unlocking doors FTW)

RE 4 had the best combat, better gameplay, faster paced, great graphics, and that stuff.

The others werent gameplay master pieces, but dont use your ability to suck at those games to bash them as after thoughts.

But old school RE fans, RE 4 played great and was a step forward in AI as well for the franchise.

They need RE 5 to be a mix of the 2.

You pretty much summed it up very well. It's disgusting to see some of these replies which is why I assume people on here only started playing with RE:4.

it be one thing if it was the typical sw morons. But Mirwin and Web are actually good posters.

But to say the first 3 RE sucked, i honestly gotta say you guys either loved RE 4 more because it was your first RE game, or u just flat out couldnt get over the fact that they controlled like tanks.

The gameplay in those games werent terrible back then, its just now they look god awful because how smooth RE 4 is.

In reality, RE 4 butchered so many of the other big things, to get so many other things right.

It is in fact the only good Resident Evil.

I'm guessing you started playing on Resident Evil 4.

No. I played the original and hated it. The controls were terrible.

the controls sucked in retrospect, but the atmosphere, story, puzzles, challenge, fear factor, etc is completely with the previous 3 games.

I'd give it a chance if the controls weren't so retarded.

Imo:

RE4 = Superior gameplay

RE1,2,3,Veronica = Superior atmosphere and story.

-In RE4 I felt unstoppable and not scared of anything because the gameplay was good.

-As I look back on the other RE games I think alot of the fear factor was not wanting to die and doing everything over again between saves.

Scenario: Doing about 1 hour of running around in RE3 just to pop into a screen with a weird angle(you gotta adjust the tank controls for the angle on the fly) with Nemesis jumping out and beating you down.

RE4 is AMAZING. And to show how amazing it is, I just played it for the first time on a Wii about a month ago. This is AFTER playing Halo 3, Bioshock, Mass Effect, COD4, etc. I was absolutely hooked until I beat the game.

It's one of those games that just completely satisfies in everyway from beginning to end.

A masterpiece.

It was a great game. But after lemmings have played gears they'd probably play RE4 like "what was the big deal?"jack_russel

having played both i can agree with that statement both excellent games and gears obviously borrows from re4 but in the end, be it because of better tech or something else i cant put my finger on......gears for me is the better game. Though its about half the length of RE4 there are sections in resident evil i find somewhat painful/frustraiting to play through, gears has none of that its all very enjoyable and coop is just on another planet of awesome

Only because the other ones sucked so bad.

Resident Evil 1 sucked?

RE4 is of a higher quality than the other games in the series, but the game is a terrible Resident Evil game.

Exactly. Resident Evil 4 is the best RE game gameplay wise. Story and atmosphere wise its definetly not as good as the other RE games. It's storystill isnt bad, far from it even. But it's just not RE.

it played the worst though? it was a terrible port of a game. HOW the F did u come to the conclusion that PC had the best version.

IF anything it was the Wii. Better control scheme(yes the port was so terrible it made the mouse and keyboard look terrible for this game, id take superior controls over mods, speaking of which what mods are there for this game?)

What can I say about Resident Evil 4? Lets see great game play, pretty graphics, lots of replay value but it has a darn awful plot just talk about crappy. Other than the weak plot its a great game I'd enjoy the GC,PS2 and Wii version's of the game.

yeah the wii version is the best by far.

i remember playing re4 on the ps2 and i liked it but never got into it for some reason. then i tried it on the wii and the controls had me instantly hooked. i got all the way to the end, finished it 2 more times and got all the unlockables.

re4 is tied with shadow of the colossus and super mario galaxy as my favourite game ever :D

First of all RE4 >>>> Gears of War.

RE4 is 3 X longer and has a deeper gameplay / weapon upgrade system, more bosses, puzzles, better story and characters etc. The atmosphere is way better in RE4. There are a lot of unlockables in RE4, and has a pretty high replay value.

Gears of War is a pretty shallow and short experience from a gameplay standpoint. You learn everything you will be doing in the game in the first 10 min of the game. Active reload, run, cover, blind fire, aim + fire, that's it. There is no ammo-management, no puzzle solving nothing, just the same thing over and over again. The gameplay in Gears is simple and fun, but the gameplay in RE4 is a masterpiece, the gameplay is varied, deep and very well done.

RE4 >>> Gears of War (+ Multiplayer / Co-op)

BenGenio

wow where the hell did this come from...you have some unresolved issues for gears of war we need to talk about? did marcus fenix beat u up and take ur lunch money when u were a kid?

for me, and most RE fans it pretty much comes down to, if RE4 wasnt a RE if it was called something else, then i would like it more...but as a RE it was dissapointing to see the "action first" approach they took with the game.

i liked the far away cameras, it made it hard to shoot but it was a staple in the franchise...

RE4 was a great game, but after growing up with 1, 2, and nemesis, (even zero) the whole time i played re4 i was thinking to myself, this isnt a RE game
