Serious? When I see the videos it's pretty easy to tell Reach is far better looking than Halo 3.

On topic, games will continue to be optimized in better ways. Will this equal better looking games? Possibly, possibly not.

Not at all, it´s about optimization. Halo Reach and Gears3 are technically more impressive than Halo 3 and Gears2.

So you're gonna enjoy Reach/Gears 3 level visuals for the next 2-3 years? Rage I have my doubts on how it's actually going to look on consoles. On PC the super-sized screens that were taken were good, but they were below Metro 2033/Crysis good.

Games aren't going to have a huge graphical leap. The only thing left to do is increase the frame rate without sacraficing visuals.

but your pulling more out the machine as your optimizing it much better to do said task so your effectively getting more out the machine by further optimisation of the code,theres still potential it just comes down to how the meat and bones coding is done for the product, im sure ND and the likes are looking at ways of pushing just a little more out the PS3 and Epic are doing it with the 360 as we can see with GeoW3.

Also i think your sig is possiby the most silly and insane statement ever made.PC gaming takes a massive dump over consoles but under luck and other circumstances i cant afford a new rig and stuck with my college laptop :(

True. Many developers have said that even with amazing looking games like Uncharted 2 it's possible to make them even better looking by optimizing the code better and trying out new things.

Also, jeez if that sig is so offensive to people I'm removing it.

Lack of anti-aliasing, texture resolution, and screen resolution would suggest that all the potential is tapped.

People misconstrew tapping the power of a console with engine optimization. They are two completely different things.

With that I agree and yes it was wrong of me to discard Rage and then mention Infamous 2. You've got me by the balls on that point. And Reach doesn't look better then GEOW 1 hell it even barely looks better then Halo 3 and that game looked even worse then GEOW.
