Have We Came to the Resolution that COD 4 Is the Greatest FPS of all Time?

If you have not realized this yet, then you are clearly behind the times. Lets be honest and real here, Halo 3 is overrated and the gameplay lacks authenticity and style. Halo 3 brought nothing new to the table, and it did not revolutionize the gaming world like the first one did. Killzone 2 was a good FPS to say the least, but when all is said and done, people still play COD 4 with obsession. The superb and incredibly addictive multiplayer, combined with near flawless gameplay and a thrilling campaign, make Call of Duty 4 the greatest FPS to come out yet. Thus, to address the ridiculous Halo 3 and Killzone 2 fanboys, your FPS's are overrated inauthentic mediums, that do not even come close to the miraculous effort that is Call of Duty 4.

What type of flaws? Halo 3 felt so genuine and boring, COD 4 is exciting and addictive, I'm really want to hear these flaws.

I enjoyed the campaign more than the multiplayer, both were flawed but the multiplayer is even more flawed. Good game, but not the greatest IMO.

CoD4 was cool, but I liked Halo 3 and Rainbow Vegas 2 better

The greatest FPS? Not by a longshot, the greatest mediocore FPS, perhaps. Even Halo gets balancing issues down more well than COD 4.

Greatest FPS series for MP are CS:S, 1.6, TF and Battlefield

Greatest single player FPS is deus ex and perhaps even STALKER, with a lot of other worthy mentions like STALKER, although the only saving grace COD 4 ever had was the quality of the campaign.

Many prefer CoD4 over most of the offerings so far this gen. As for me, I'll take CoD: WaW over CoD4 any day. I think the maps are actually better (once you get use to them) and I feel that the variety in the maps is FAR better then what's available in CoD4. Hopefully IW will support MW2 with more then one lousy map pack. If not, at least the original CoD is making it's way to the consoles and if that includes the online portion, I'll be going back to that because it's by far the best CoD ever made. Nedemis

There are better FPS's for Singleplayer like : Half Life, Stalker, and Crysis, as well as old PC classics like System Shock.

There are better FPS's for Multiplayer like : UT2k4, Quake Live/Arena, TF2, L4D, Battlefield 2 as well as many others..

So no, how can a game be the "Greatest of all time" when there are countless number of other games that do it much better.

Perks, killcam, K/D ratio, interesting level up system, the best scoring system around, very intense and satisfying shooting mechanics.

Equipment, the use of modding on a console game, more vehicles and weapons, as well as perfecting the Halo formula.

Killzone 2 brought gorgeous visuals and the most intense gameplay in a shooter, ever.

NOOOOOOOO. No, no, no, no, no, NO. Anything but. Regenaritive health pretty much kills that statement.

First of all, this is a shooter, not the Apolla 11 mission. Secondly, CoD4 did absolutely nothing new. NOTHING. I would tell you all the things CoD4 didn't do new, but there is so much I don't think I'd be able to.

So overall, CoD4 is a great game. But you're wrong, period

I can probably give the game to a 9 year old, give him a P90have him stand ina corner, and tell him to hold the right trigger when he sees someone walk by, and he will more than likely come out on top.

Your arguments make me question how many FPS's you guys have all played. COD 4 took all of the great things of first person shooters, evolved them, and then made them even better. Call of Duty 4 is gratifying in every aspect, from sound, gunplay, multiplayer. I'm so sick of hearing about half life, halo, killzone, perfect dark, system shock, their all mediocre FPS, their isn't much special about any of them. Cod 4 is a true work of art.
