The only time I cried was when my main file of Banjo Tooie and Super Mario 64 was erased, and when I thought my file of Donkey Kong 64 was erased. Oh, and I cried when I played the failure that is Spore.DeathScape666lol I thought this was going to be another 'I cried during FF7's story' thread. No, I've never cried over a game.
ive never cried due to a game. A game's pacing is way too slow to cause such emotions.
especially final fantasy. the grinding involved in getting from one plot point to the next is just too long a gap.

i thought people hated FF because the cutscenes were too frequent..
I never have cried, but I'm sure if there is a good story where I can relate or feel for a character, then I might cry.
Also, I do not understand what is so gut wrenching about MGS4? Its a great game with a good story (if you understand what the hell is going on) but its not really emotional. Most, if not all, characters were unrealistic and not believable when it comes to emotions. Cmon.. Otacon? He is in love with Naomi just because he probably lost his V-card to her at the age of 40 and hes sobbing his heart out to her.
However, if there is one game that was suspenseful and made me really made me say "HOLY SH!% THIS ROCKS" it has to be the very opening of Indigo Prophecy
Sometimes when something lines up perfectly, like a perfectly epic moment with epic dialogue and musical accompanyment, I just cry. It happens to me in tv, movies, and games, I dunno I guess I'm just a big softie.

I know what you mean. The final boss battle in MGS4 got me crying. It was just too perfect...I couldnt have hoped for better. The lead in cutscene and the dialogue then the boss fight. Everything just clicked together perfectly.

I never made it that far. I played through the first few acts but the story made no sense to me, so I won't bother finishing it until I play the other games and get some context.Half-Life 2 Episode 2.
You know. The end of that. And how powerless you were.

The end didn't really get me, my moment of almost crying was at the prosepct of one of the characters almost dying earlier in the game if you know what scene I mean.
No, nor have I cried during a film or television show.
But believe me, I'm constantly looking. I feel if anything has that much of an emotional story that it gets me to connect with the characters so much that it might very well be one of my favorite games.
MGS3, FFX, KH2 were very close. The Force Unleashed had a good ending as well, and there are plenty more that I'm just not thinking of at the moment. But I think MGS3's ending is the best in video games.
Seems like no ones ever played Klonoa: Door to Phantomile, or Lufia 2. : (KronikX9and klonoa 2 with the king of sorrow

have you tried SOTC?

MGS series is very story driven, and alot of the excitement and enjoyment, comes from your emotional connection to the varying characters in the story. So to sumone who hasnt played the games before, Snake is just sum random guy like Marcus Fenix or Nathan Hale. And while thats Ok for Gears and Resistance, its not MGS4. You need to understand what Snake has done and gone through in order to fully appreaciate what he is doing now. Playing MGS4 without the others is like starting Star Wars (the old movies) mid way. Its doabl, but I wouldnt recommend it (actually, I wouldnt recommend watching star wars at all...its absolute crap :P)

For some reason, Mr. Freeman can survive gigantic explosions, fight off battalions of soldiers, and kill giant alien things, but when it comes to stop people from getting killed, he just totally lames out in that department.

Yes. That's one I should have listed as one that was very close. Before the final collosus and the final scene were all pretty emotional, but not enough to bring me to tears, sadly.

BK-Sleeper
Quite possibly the most overrated ending, ever. Final Fantasy X and Kingdom Hearts II both had MUCH better endings. Much, much better.
The only movie, book, video game, magazine, song, newspaper, or anything that involves some form of a story that I have ever cried to is... Lilo and Stich. I found near the end to be extremely sad when Stich felt like he didn't belong, and that he didn't have an actual "family." Lilo was ***** for kicking him out of the house.

Beauty and the Beast is one of the movies that gets me close to tears. I'll also include The Dark Knight, Ladder 49, and, although the ending doesn't do it, the whole story in Titanic is great. Although I know how people are about that movie...

Oh God, yes! I was very surprised to see The Lion King 2 and The Lion King 1 1/2 to suck and be... not as emotional. The former actually wasn't half bad, though.
Oh, and Monster's Inc. would've made me cry if I was just a bit younger, and the last three minutes of the movie were erased.
Yeah..admittedly I got a little teary eyed when I finished Heavenly Sword.Steakdinner
is the game really that short?

Well, I wasnt being sarcastic lol but if your asking in earnest, its deffinetly beatable in a long sitting maybe 6 to 8 hours. id recommend a rental instead of buying it, but the story was worth the play through imo.
