Someone asked me at gamestop a good racing game.
I froze up because I had been thinking about this happening, but I didnt have to much game knowledge.
Im all like gran... gran something.
The guys all like, Ohh its for my young child. He cant play grand theft auto.
Im just all like sorry, dunno.
Also the child was young. He wouldnt have liked Motorstorm or Burnout.
If only Modnation was out.
Yes, I've done that a lot in my life...not just games either. Movies too, but it depends on the type of person they are, and I usually try to ask them what they are into. No matter how I may love Being John Malkovich, I know some people won't like it. Same with games.
Yeah a friend on Steam once asked me if Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead was any good. I asked him if he liked realism, he said yes, I said go for it. I think I saw him play it for maybe 5 minutes before he went back to Modern Warfare 2, I don't think he liked the kind of realism it offered.
I haven't actually walked up to someone and suggested something for them before but I have been asked advice many times.
I wear a suit for work (no jacket) and go out for lunch most days. This inevitably ends up with me browsing thru bargain bins at one place or another. It's amazing how many people cme up and ask questions about games. My favorite time was at EB in Chadstone (Australia). I was looking thru the piles of games and saw a guy had COD4 and COD5 in his hands. COD4 was the GOTY edition and he asked me if I'd palyed them before. I offered my advice and he asked whether we took credit card :) I told him I didn't work there but just liked talking about games and helping people out and he went off to purchase the game.
Next a lady taps me on the should and needed help finding an imagine game for her daughter. I pointed to the DS games wall and said that I'd seen one there new as I'd bought one earlier for my niece. After answering two more people's queries I realised there was a queue forming with people wanting to ask questions. The icing on the cake though was when one of the clerks came up to me and asked if we were able to accept trade in for games without a case.
I couldn't stop laughing that one of the clerks didn't realise I didn't work there! What a dumbass :D
Anyway I'll never recommend a game to someone looking at things on a shelf but, if I'm asked, I'll always offer advice. I've been gaming for over 25 years and played a lot of games in the current gen so it's good to help people... especially those buying for kids. Always nice to prevent some poor kid from getting a movie based game instead of something with decent replay/quality ;)
Someone was looking for a good sports game and I recommended Cyberball 2072 or NBA unrivaled. I did it out of spite though since a guy recommended me You're in the movies once and I bought it. What a waste (even though it was 4 dollars).
yes, lolllololol, there was an old lady in GAME once and i was waiting for the clerk to go back and give me my BC2 cd back because it got scratched and i was getting it cleaned, then she said "excuse me can you help me with this?" and then she told me that her son wanted her to get the new call of duty game, problem is, she didn't know what it was, being the gentleman that i am, i quietly pointed her to call of duty 3........i got my bc2 copy back and bamboozled out of the store, knowing that the old lady bought the game
I haven't yet recommended any games from what I can remember but when I am in Game with friends I always point out how ludicrous the prices are compared to online retailers and make sure to do it rather loudly so other customers can hear. Why should they pay more for a used game when they can get it new for less online?
well I advised a guy to not buy a game once he was going to buy The last rebellion but I told him don't even dare touch this game or you will regret it then he said don't worry i like this kind of games (Probably he meant he is a JRPG fan) then I told him I love this kind of games too but believe me don't do it or you will regret it :P.
A lady at Gamestop asked me if Assassins Creed 2 was suitable for a 11 year old, I told her no.:P
I think she ended up buying Viva Pinata.

And actually when you are a lot younger you have no idea how fun movie based games can be :D
Spiderman on the PS2 was so much fun back in the day
I really enjoyed a Spiderman game on DC too but I don't think it was movie specific.Spiderman on the PS2 was so much fun back in the day

Yeah, a woman wanted some good James Bond games for her son so I helped her pick some out.fabz_95You'd better have picked out Nightfire! And I'm the same as most people, I've been asked but I wouldn't actively walk up to someone and go "Buy that!" And I'll never actually interfere with someones purchase like if it's a grandma and she says "Do you know what console Carnival Games is on?" I won't go "Don't get that get this instead!" because I've got no idea who she's buying it for, if they asked specifically for it or anything like that. I know as a kid I hated when I asked for something and got a random alternative.
anybody whose worked at gamestop knows alot about this.Microsoft1234No they do not, I take offense to this statement. They tried to convince me to preorder cod black ops and I gave pretty good reasons which I wont disclose here why I wont.., when they know you have as much knowledge as them they tend to back away.... Anyway back on topic, I trusted peeps outlook before on FO3 and FF13 yes on the gs board lol...both bad mistakes ...from that I learned to respect peoples outlook on games but never let that effect your purchase..
