I think that Microsoft was smart enough not to pic HD-DVD but not have it outside the box, i think they were looking at the big picture and realised that disc would be dead in a few years and that online stores would be the rage to come, and now it had been proven that Itunes and Marketplace are extremely strong. I think that even if either blue-ray or HD DVD win, online rentals will kill either one.tacubanoitll take a while before a format beats regular dvds in terms of sales
It's kinda hard to make good use of the downloads when you have a 1mb connection :|. You have to have a much faster download speed to even enjoy it. -supercharged-And I'd be happy (for a while) with 1MB. Let alone those who have less.

True but still it really doesnt make it enjoyable when you have to wait hours for something to download. Â

"mom sure know how to hydrate a pizza"--back to the futurei think discs will hold a future too, HVD will stomp on both blu ray and HD DVD1stCommandoeventually technology gets beaten by technology
To hell with that, im not going to be downloading HD movies...I want a physical copy that i can take to a friends house without a hassle...
No thanks, ill stay format nuetral with BD and HD-DVD
I disagree- I think most people are going to want a hard copy of their favorite movies.HVD!!!!!! i promise HVD is the future, i'm willing to bet $20
Mp3s are a quick and easy download- less than a few minutes on slower broadband connections. Even TV shows aren't so bad because a) if they lose the show, at least there's still an option of watching it on TV, and b) they're not hi-def, so the downloads are generally smaller (200-300mb).
I'm not going to say Blu ray or HD-DVD will win- perhaps they will both be overlooked for another technology format, but we are not even close to being read for hi-def movies distributed digitally.Vampyronight
Ok so people arguee that it's way to slow to download HD movies....by the way im talking bout 720p movies that are 6GB according to Marketplace users...1080p downloads are way into the future....anyways...but what if in 2 years we get super fast internet and are able to download 6GB in say 30 minutes...would u want that or got to a store and then return the video???
I think people don't realise that even MSFT and Sony are pushing hard for movies and games on download stores, they did this get music and started with SD video, who buys CDs now?????.... go back 6 years ago when mp3s started and people would have been like ohh hell no i'll keep buying my cds...I THINK NOT!!!!!!
