Heavenly Sword sales - HUGE disappointment for sony

Why isn't this game selling? After debuting at #1 on the 15th, it has already dropped to the bottom of the top 10. After 3 weeks of sales in the US it has only sold 184,000 copies. Skate(360) launched the same week and is now outselling HS in its 3rd week and is quickly catching up to HS in overall sales.

This is Sony's most hyped and marketed title of the year, what is going on here? Its the only PS3 game I've seen a TV commercial for since nearly back to the launch period. With the big ad campaign, good reviews, great graphics, it has to be a MAJOR shock to Sony that it isn't selling.

Seriously, why aren't PS3 owners buying games?

It already reached 10% of the userbase.

In other news, 360 games continue to fly off the shelves.

The 360's hardcore base is ridiculous. Which will help them even more down the line if they can expand the market and grab some of the mainstream.

people are no longer buying PS3.... The ps3s user base is almost as bad as wiis..... i.e. people picking it up for being a bluray player vs grandmas for wii sports.

I have to disagree. Lest we forget the 360 had several million-sellers this time last year...with a few more (Saint's Row, Dead Rising) threatening and soon to also hit the mark.

less than 200,000 in sales is abysmal. The devs/Sony are going to lose a metric ton of money on this game if it doesn't get up over at least 500,000.

Why the hell don't PS3-only owners buy games? I just don't get it anymore.

Didn't expect this game to sell HUGE!!!

I mean I though God of War did like maybe 6 Million atleast on the PS2 with their huge userbase and all the talk of GOW but it did under 3 Million, same with GOW2.

So with the smaller base of PS3 I don't expect it to do huge numbers. I don't know if Sony expected it... maybe they thought so cause they think people will buy it for the graphics like Lair I don't know

Heavenly Sword DOES have a big marketing push, despite what people are saying so far. It is the only PS3 game I've seen commercials for in the last 6 months. I've seen that commercial a lot on Discovery and Spike.

If Heavenly Sword is selling this badly, will Uncharted do just as bad? Uncharted is arguably a harder sell, if you didn't know anything about Uncharted and just saw a commercial or small clip, it looks like a Tomb Raider clone. Heavenly Sword seems to have a cooler premise, better main character, and better graphics and Sony still cant sell it. Ratchet at least has a built in fanbase from ps2 to rely on.

I saw way more TV AD's for heavenly sword then halo3 and halo3 paid 10 million for its marketing campaign or something gross like that.

I don't know, Lara Croft and Tomb Raider had a good run............

HS isn t that great of a game. I was originally excited for it, until the demo came out and the gameplay turned out to be slow and the ai were pretty brain dead : / I ll take NGS over it any day ^_^Setsa

Just because a game is hyped dosen't mean the PS3 fanbase is going to eat it up like xbox fans do with Halo 3. The game actually has to be really good to get sales. And IMO it's not solid enough to be considered a GREAT action adventure game on PS3. Why the hell isn't the game running 60fps for instance. If they had took off some of those enmies and beefed up the frame rate I'd proabably feelbetter about the gamebut it's out now...what to do.

Potential wasted, it would have been better if they had madethe gamea full blown RPG becaue elements of the story was more interesting than the fighting in the game anyway.
