Was just watching some actual gameplay footage. Not the cut scene stuff. I don't know how I feel about thsi game. It looks really scary with great visuals and some gameplay. Alan Wake on the other hand looks like an open world adventure with some horror elements, More stephen kingish. I think Alan Wake is more my style. What do you think?

I tend to think Alan Wake will be the more popular but both will be good. Heavy Rain looks more offbeat and trying to do something else.

Alan Wake, Heavy Rain, and Brutal Legend are gonna be the bestest games ever. Well, maybe not, except for Brutal Legend :D, but yeah, they'll kick butt. Can't wait!

Heavy Rain gives me a big pyschological thriller vibe, if anyone has seen the movies "Se7en", or "Zodiac" you can probably see where I'm coming from. On the other hand, while I'm really anticipating Alan Wake as well, I don't know anything about it to get excited really.

I love these kind of games though. When i was a kid i used to love adventure games. not the stuff we see now but stuff like lucasarts stuff and sierra adeventure games. I really thought these kind of games were a dying breed. AFter gabriel knight iii that was the last one i played. It seems they are making a comeback which is a good thing. I was afraid Heavy Rain was going to be like dragon's lair and all cutscenes but that gameplay walkthrough put that to rest and I'm pleasantly surprised.

I agree. I hope these games are big hits. So we can start seeing more stuff like this not just horror, thrillers. I used to love king's quest and police quest and space quest and monkey island, maniac mansion, zach mccracken, the dig, gabriel knight and all that stuff. I played all of them as a kid. I was a loser lol. They really could make a comeback and have more walking around puzzle solving with mini games. Alone in the dark was sort of like that and the original resident evil but they were more shooters with walking around doing puzzles as well. I used to like just walking around figuring stuff out and having action sequences put into the game as like minigames. i've never been a big shooter person. I never really liked Myst either.... I was more the walking around, 3rd person, with action incorporated and a real life open world type thing. GTA is sort of that but not really lol.... It's sad when I've had to rely on GTA for my fix of those kind of games. I just hope they can make more story driven games with different themes and not just survival/horror stuff. GAmes like Police Quest where you could go to different locals in different order and solve things in different ways and change the outcome of the game were awesome. I like how in that video she can either escape or fight the guy. That is so cool to me.

I'm building a new gaming PC when Diablo III or Starcraft II is released. Since I'm sure Alan Wait won't come out before then, I'll have a gaming PC in time for Alan Wait if I decide I want to check it out. Regardless, Heavy Rain looks much more interesting to me. I can't wait.

Dude is it all about Sony loyalty to you? It's not a bad thing, I just notice there are no positive remarks for a game from you unless it's somehow tied to Sony.

I think im more "open minded" considering i love most genres like shooters, RPGs, etc....:P Just kidding

I mean, I used to be a big adventure fan (i played most games you posted on my PC and Amiga500) but these days i think i need more than simple point and clic. This is why Heavy Rain and Alan Wake looks so great. They are the natural evolution of the genre with 21 century technology and controls imo!

well so do I. I wouldn't own a console if I didn't. I like rpgs as well and am open minded. If I wasn't I wouldn't like games like this. I even can stand a good first person shooter these days although it's not my preferenec. Blizzard games are my favorite. I also really like sports games although that might make some people vomit. But yeah, sports, action adventures, rpg's are my thing. I also really like racing games. And good RTS's like starcraft or civilization. To be honest 1st person shooters are probably my least favorite genre though although they can be fun for a few mindless laughs every once in a while. Also not big on puzzle/board games and jrpg's.

But I agree. These kind of games were a dead issue for a while but you can see what they can do with todays technology. It's just nice to see them making a comeback since this was one of my kicks as a kid.

shut it haha. This game looks great. We need more stuff like this and not instant gratification mindless shooters. This is when games were actually good. Back in my day we used our minds and liked it.

I miss those days. Did anyone used to play Sanitarium?

I remember that one! An isometric adventure game. And a very scary one :P

Alan Wake, Heavy Rain, and Brutal Legend are gonna be the bestest games ever. Well, maybe not, except for Brutal Legend :D, but yeah, they'll kick butt. Can't wait!

These are three of my most eagerly-awaited titles too. inFamous is on the list too, which I am cautiously optimistic for.

But I thought I only liked sucky games?! :P

Heavy Rain i reckon could be quite similar to Sanitarium. And i think Alan Wake and Heavy Rain may bring about more game like that. I installed it and played through again not too long ago, god that game was good fun to play.

I just hope they deliver. Unfortunatly most (kids) will not give them an oportunity considering their lack of action. Fahrenheit (indigo project i think) was one of the best surprises last gen imo so im sure Heavy Rain will be great. I know almost nothing about Alan Wake but it looks so promissing....Well..i cant wait for both!

The visuals in both these games are amazing, and they have pretty cool themes so hopefully people will buy them. I for one will be. I personally think Heavy Rain looks more graphically stunning than Alan Wake although Alan Wake is probably on a bigger scale and has more action to it. Heavy Rain looks pretty intense though and maybe even moreso. I think both games will be different enough where they should appeal to people.
