It looks bad, but a high budget Starship Troopers made by a developer that understands what made the movie so great, could be an awesome game. But just like a proper Terminator or a Robocop game, we will never ever get one of these. Depressing.
I agree with your overall point, but a game doesn't need to be high-budget to be awesome.
Terminator: Resistance was a surprisingly good game despite it's overall "bargain bin" feeling, arguably being a more enjoyable game than many other titles in the same arena (Shadow Warrior, Hard Reset, and various "boomer shooters").
Likewise, Aliens: Fireteam Elite was a pretty small budget from what I've read and it is an excellent game and in the same vein as Helldivers 2.

@mrbojangles25: looks kind of cool, but yeah that opening scene is horrible lol...really reminds me of starship troopers.
Haha I loved it, so cheesy.
Half expected him to say "Would you like to know more?!"
I fucking loooooooove, LOVE Starship Troopers in the modern context (that is, to be clear, satire).
The book was a fun read, but it was also a blatant piece of pro-war propaganda written by an author that was so pissed off that the US was reducing it's nuclear arms ambitions in the 1950's he felt compelled to write this book in less than a week.
The movie was almost NOTHING like the novel, and honestly? Thank god for that. One of the rare instances where the expanded universe of a thing is better than the source material. Because we got like 5+ movies out of it and, recently, some decent games.
Anyway, long story short: this is why I am excited for Helldivers 2, and enjoyed Helldivers 1 so much. The Starship Troopers inspiration.
