1. They don't look like crap
2. Just because you have the engine to make the game look good doesn't mean that it will. Graphics artist and engineers are responsible for that:( and money.

The first one looks like crap. Way too much detail. Kinda like GeOW in that way, except wayy more. The second one looks nicer, a bit cleaner.

Are they mods?

Did you just say the first one looked bad because it has too much detail? wow man, I don't understand.

Like said before OE is a mod and Vigilance is a simulator for the military so I dont think they care about ground breaking graphics but the capabilities of the engine.

DragonfireXZ95

There's way too many shadows and bushes and little things that make it look totally scrappy. Imagine walking around a level like that.

The non-jungle pics look fine, but very standard. We've seen scenes like that sooo many times in videogames.

But don't read this and think I agree with the topic which implies that the CryEngine2 isn't as good as people think. These are two mods.

Crytek has licensed the engine to 5 different companies. One is set to be shown off at EFor All (Blue Mars?)

Set in Terraformed Mars, Avatar Reality's this massively-multiplayer online game of virtual community building allows players to live their fantasy lives by creating personalized characters, or avatars. The game uses the CryENGINE 2 for the very latest in graphic technology.IGN
