The game looks fantastic, but I am still not all that impressed with how the gameplay appears yet. Hopefully they get all that squared away before it releases.

And for the post a bit above mine, Halo might look more cartoon-y, but it is a phenominally solid game that has held up for years now.

I disagree. I find Killzone 2 to look very impressive visually. I have yet to be impressed with anything other than the visuals at this stage, but it is early in the build, so that could be fixed.

Should you call it a Halo killer because of visuals? Heck no. But to count it out of being an impressive game at this stage based on pre-alpha gameplay vids is also slightly unfair.

Halo 3 looks good for the art style it has chosen for itself. Its not realistic, but the textures are clean and bright, geometry is clean and smooth, and the game runs very well.

Games like GeoW, CoD4, and KZ2 that go for a "grittier" and more realistic look will always appear to look better since we are more used to seeing those as "realistic", whereas Halo looks more like a Sci-Fi graphical novel, which is what it was shooting for.

There most certainly is pre-alpha, as early shots of Halo 3 from Bungie were clearly labeled as pre-alpha build. Pre-pre-alpha, I doubt though. That would probably just be called early code.

the visuals are stunning, not a jaggy in sight. this game will be up agaisnt some stiff FPS competetion by the time it releses, but I'm pretty confident that it's going to find it's own identity in it's gameplay by 08 as well as init's graphics. ;)

yeah, Crysis looks awesome, do you want me to bow down to it or something? Why do you have to be on offense about this? All I said was that the game looks incredibly smooth. I point out a huge strength, which is the lack of jaggies, and you have to point out some weakness, the textures. Big whoop, I wasn't talking about those. So a console game can't look good in every single aspect, oh my god, that means the whole game should suck!

We never saw Pre-alpha footage of "that game's" single player. And they have likely been working on Killzone 2 for more than 2 years now, they have probably been working as hard as they can to make the game look better.. Even though it still looks pretty average.

Killzone looks good and all....

Crysis is stunning, from the way you're talking it's as though Killzone is the next best thing though since that's all you seem it fit to compare to. Oh and stop trying to BS about the gameplay looking any different from the trailer which is ALL gameplay.

Ngai is one of the biggest cows out there so I take his comments with a grain of salt but to me killzone has amazing graphics but nobody talks about the sound........Its as good as the graphics because it sounds like a battlefield should with explosions and guns firing in the distance, and the sound of planes in the sky completes the whole thing.....Still the ending gameplay seemed kind of boring...open and shoot...Would have been better if there were enemies constantly ruhing you as u tried to destroy the thing.

1.THe was in God mode which means he can't die.

Yeah, the scripted parts in the first video looked better than this video. This video didnt look near as impressive and the AI was pitiful. Im sure there's time to iron things out, but texture-wise and the explosions dont look so good. Lighting and character models look good...

Another thing to think about thats not really mentioned much, is that they had to spend over $40 Million dollars to get the game just to look like this, and the game still wont be ready til possibly 2009. In 09, 360 will have even better looking games, too! And, Im sure if a 360 developer spent several years and $40 Million, they could produce something much better than Killzone 2. KZ better look at least this good with all that had to be invested into it...

I'm keeping in mind that this game is in a Pre Alpha stage, but I just don't think it will live up to the Target CGI.

The lighting does look great but I honestly think, that, judging from the general idea of gameplay in the latest demo,it mightjust be end up being"another FPS". An over-hyped one at that.

At this moment in time, I'm more interested in Little Big Planet.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for Killzone 2 though.

The motion and depth blur effects are amazing. It's even better than Gears of War!Timstuff
