The one thing the Wii has over the other consoles is " IN GAME SERENITY " know what that is ? it's being able to play a game without the constant pressure of worrying about getting killed or not scoring enough achievements or trophies and having to worry if you saved your progress or not, or being down 3 to 5 kills. Instead, having in game serenity is being able to play games like Rune Factory Frontier or Endless ocean and just sitting back and either attending to your farms crops, then purchasing supplies in town for the next harvest, or exploring far beneath the ocean, while feeding and communing with underwater sea life and listening to soothing music while you discover more and more picturesque sites on the ocean floor. You see it's games like those that set the Wii apart from it's more powerful console competitors, because the majority of those games all have killing, quotas that have to be met for achievements and progress, a certain stress level that comes from wondering if your going to get killed by the next boss or not and if and when you'll beat the game, and games like Resident Evil 5 or Resistance 2 and Halo 3, not only are they all shooters but all have a certain amount of difficulty and frustration that are caused to the player, to the point where they have to shut the game off before they throw the console out the window. Now even though the Wii has it's Resident Evil's and some other shooters and sports titles, unlike 360 and PS3 those are not it's primary focus, being able to relax, sit back and enjoy the scenery and while taking in the results of a lush hard worked farm or the breathless, colorful creatures and landscapes beneath the ocean waves is something that gamers also need once in a while, and as far as i know the only game to even come close to offering this kind of beauty and serenity else where other than on the Wii is the PS3's " Flowers ", but at least they have one. Playing games should be an escape from life's every day problems, and sometimes shooters and sport titles can work out some frustrations but sometimes you also need a bunch of games that have a look and feel of a soothing massage, while the sounds of nature and soft flute music is playing in the back ground, then you know that you have a complete console experience you can enjoy, and in my opinion the Wii is such a console.

Ps3 is getting a new Katamari Game.

They tend to be really laid back and relaxing.

There are plenty of games like that for the PS3/360. It just depends on how hard you look.

I don't see any reason why a platformer can't have that kind of effect on someone.

Yeah but you loose replay value. Tropies give me something to shoot for, making you own goals is pointless. Pluss its community based. BTW, TC, does the Wii have better games, online, marketplace/store, or even DLC? Not really. The wii isn't for the hardcore. Its not respectable.

I thought you were going to say something like "It collects the most dust" (not because I hate the Wii, I love it, but alot of people like to make wise cracks about it.)

Maybe certain platformers could but one's like Ratchet and Clank and Destroy all Humans have more violent undertones to them, then say a Mario or Zelda.

None of those things besides great games (which the Wii has plenty of) makes a console hardcore.

The Wii's DLC consist of N64, SNES, NES, SEGA, SNK and NEC games, while also being able to play every gamecube game ever made, and the Wii shop serves Nintendo fans just fine, and it does offer online play, although not as grand and elaborate as PSN or Live, Wii owners have no complaints as far as i know, and if they do they can always switch to another console if online quality is what they prefer above all else.

Well, it's certainly an odd idea. However there are games like this on PS3/360.

Exactly. Besides, it's all about how you play a game anyway. You can play it intensely, or just casually.

When I read the title, I instantly thought "shovelware" lol... anyway, back on topic: how about no?? I'm not familiar with relaxing games for the 360 (not saying it doesn't have any) but I'm damn sure the PS3 has a good number.

Screw "serenity", I buy games so I can shoot and chop stuff! And play guitar songs I can't play...it doesn't have the same effect, but...XD

long read? hahahaha. anyway i agree....my favorite DS game to date is electroplankton...and on the Wii, my favorite is animal crossing...i have a 360 and have been playing all types of games, but relaxing open-ended games are definitely my favorite. even super mario galaxy was so beautiful that i was just too relaxed to care if i died in ways that would be considered "frustrating" in other games... oh but after thinking about this for a second, it's true that all consoles have these...it's not like it's nintendo's idea to make games like these...

What about LBP? Banjo-Kazooie? Flower? Viva Pinata? Do your research before making biased claims like this.

You ever play Viva Pinata for the 360? That game is all about tending to your land, and making it a great habitat for new pinatas to move into.

That's just one example, but you can't actually say the 360 and PS3 have no games like that.

:| I own a Wii. Please don't be deluded and believe the Wii is the only system to receive titles that aren't FPS,Racing,TPS. There are -plenty- of games on 360,PS3 that don't rely on action to promote enjoyment. Ugh... Learn a little about the other systems before you bash them.
