As for your list, it's your opinion and that's cool but you're missing some of the best RPGs made: Neverwinter Nights, Diablo 1/2, Chrono Trigger/ Cross, Baldur's Gate 1/2, Vagrant Story, Super Mario RPG, Grandia, FF6, Suikoden 3, Fallout 1/2, Tales series, Elder Scrolls series, Shin Megami Tensei series, and many more....In fact, a top 10 list is just not fair for RPGs.

(turn-based) Strategy RPG. Think Disgaea/Fire Emblem, or games like Advance Wars only with characters and levelling instead of generic expendable units.

When I was a kid, i was friends with this other kid, and he had some kind of mental issue, and he could not ask questions or say phrases in the form of a question.... for real... no lie. He was a good friend of mine, and when he came over to my house he'd always say to my mom "Ross will play." Instead of "Can Ross play?" He was a good friend of mine, for years, and we eventually found out he was abused and some other stuff, but I still remember that kid.

I wounder if this OUR THE stuff is something like that?

Its a matter of if you like a story told to you , orwant to be a active part in a story.

the meaning of Role-Playing-Gameis that you play a role in the outcome of the plot and have say-so in the plot yourself. It was originally used for pen and paper games like D&D were the players played the biggest role in what happened in the world around them.

I think very few (if any) Japanese "RPG"'s fit the real definition of a Role Playing Game. They should be called Story-Telling-Games.

Baldurs Gate 2: Shadows of Amn should be at the top of the list.

By not including it, you undermined your list immeasurably.

Skies of Arcadia was a nice touch though, thats my fav JRPG.

a woefully underrepresented genre, to be sure. Tactics Ogre, FFT, Warsong (Sega Genesis), the X-Com games. Some of my favorites that seem to havedissapeared or moved to handhelds.

THETRUEDOZAH

The SNES remake of the sequel, Der Langrisser, is one of my favourite SRPGs (wasn't released outside Japan, unfortunately). A widely branching storyline that let you choose one of 4 alignments (and branches within THOSE branches), funny and well-written dialogue, memorable characters, an EXCELLENT soundtrack, quality visuals, and uniquely interesting gameplay adds up to make a real winner of a game.

Just hoping it'll be out for the VC eventually, fully translated.
