I'm primarily a PC gamer. I've probably been gaming on the PC for longer than most of you,
assumptions.
and even I can recongnise how much the success of the 360 has helped the PC.
For starters there's GFW live. In the beginning it was a laughable online service that had the audacity to charge a fee. Now it is evolving into a decent service and Microsoft are introducing a marketplace so that we can get access to the great titles on Xbox live amrketplace.
Yeah a unneccesary service when we already have better ones like steam which is FREE.. Furthermore Xboxlive market place games like arcade are inferior because we either A) already have games similar to them or B) systems that are far better like gametap.
Then there's the games. The 360 has a very similar architecture to the PC and it's very easy to port games from 360 to the PC. The upshot of this is that almost every 360 game gets ported to the PC, and being that the 360 is taking the PS3's best exclusives hermits get to play those exclusives.
That is by chance, we have had the exact same benefits with other consoles in the past.. Also one can say that the games that are ported were oriignally for the pc but they decided to move it ot the 360.
It is a fact that developers have started shying away from developig for the PC and big exclusives are becoming a rarity. In this climate the 360 is a godsend because of its strong software sales and decent install base. Half the multiplatform titles we see would never have existed or been ported to the PC if the 360 didn't exist
Assumptions, assumptions assumptions and more assumptions..
I'm thankful that I can play gears, viva pinata, last remnant, Alan wake etc on my PC. I'm thankful that Fallout 3, Mirrors Edge, Dragon Age and Alpha Protocol exist. I'm thankful that there is a GFW marketplace on the PC and I should soon be able to download some of XBox live's best titles
Yeah half of those games were attened to be released on the PC to begin with.. So you fail, we don't have gears because of the Xbox360 we have geras because epic wanted to make more money..
