Hermits play their PC's. Lemmings play their 360's. I don't know why we are two seperate factions in the fanboy wars when in reality we are ***two flip sides of the same coin***.

Why? Because PC games run on Microsoft software and 360 games run on Microsoft hardware.

Crysis one of the best PC games of 07, is also a "Games for Windows". Whether you like it or not, **Hermits and Lems both play the way Microsoft wants us to play (on their platforms).**

-when Gears of War or another once-360 exclusive is ported to PC, don't be upset, for we are merely sharing with our brothers. It still remains on Microsoft territory.

- when an RTS or another once-PC exclusive is ported to 360, Hermits should encourage this and lemmings should be grateful that their "brother" is willing to share.

- PC/360 games are exclusives, in that they are a "Microsoft" exclusive.

We must no longer argue, but each rely on each others pros to become the ultimate fanboy, the "Hermming", or whatever....By sharing each of our own exclusives with eachother, thus having many PC/360 games, we will not only strengthen our libraries but will get many games that won't be on PS3. God I love it when 360 gets a game that isn't on PS3.

So unity.... or seperation?

****EDIT: If you want, 360 is the younger and less educated of the two brothers. THERE lol.****

Actually, nothing could be more opposite a Hermit than a Lemming. Why? The PC is an open platform, the Xbox 360 is a closed, money-seeking platform. The PC is a platform allowing a variety of hardware and customization - the 360 is a platform where you buy the Microsoft HD-DVD player, $100, 20gb Hard Drive, and $99 Microsoft Wifi adaptor - or nothing at all.

The 360 is a platform where PC-esque games are watered down and simplified for mass consumption - the PC is a platform where games are deepened and expanded upon through developers and mod teams to fit the needs of different niche audiences. In essence, the 360 is a bastardization of everything PC gaming represents - where there is freedom, it builds iron bars, where there is a free service it charges, where there is flexibility it offers only rigidity and conformity.

-

The only "group" that diehard PC gamers are particularly fond of are Nintendo fans - their platforms focus on gaming alone, rather than trying to be "PC-like", and typically their games and franchises are different enough to warrant attention. But 360 fans? They represent a group calling for a weakening of the very things PC gamers enjoy. So no... take your call for a PC - 360 brotherhood elsewhere - 360 fanboys are not "brothers" of PC gamers, if anything they are wolves in sheep's clothing, waiting in the dark with a knife, one-by-one shatteringg once epic names - Eldar Scroll, System Shock, Deus Ex, Fallout - one by one series destroyed, gone in for a plastic-surgery in which they removed their heart and replaced it with a pulsating LIVE logo.

Begone! Take your boiler plate elsewhere, PC gaming is in no hurry to sell its soul.

there are too many diffrences between them... PC is much older platform then XBOX so as the most games on it and most of PC gamers... Most users of XBOX 360 are teens or people who don't wont to spent their money on upgrading their PCs... in fact they are diffrent player generations... i would say that most of PC gamers don't like consoles much, in other way they wouldn't play games on PC :)

Good post but you got your head so far up your own A** that you are missing the point.

YOU GAME ON A PC running MICROSOFT software. Your game contains the "Games for Windows" branding. You describe how good PC is over 360, guess who benefits from both?? Games for Windows LIVE is all ready on PC games, and it will only spread.

Sell its soul? both belong to the same owner. Stop being prejudice, descrimatory, or whatever and recognize that you NEED MS software to play your favourite PC games. deal.

No, it seems you are missing the point. Microsoft makes no money and has no say in games on the pc. Windows live is a joke, i wish it wasn't but it is. Microsoft pays devs to put the "games for windows" on the box art, trying to sell more os. Thats about as much involvement as microsoft have in pc games. The only reason we see 360 games come to pc is because microsoft pay for exclusivity on console, as the pc is not a console devs are free to make a version for the pc.

Thought so ! ;)

Reminds me of the days ( history books as I am older but not that old ) when Henry Ford was pioneering the powered buggy and the buggy whip makers were nervous.

Though I understand the view and in many ways agree....

The future comes with many uncertainties, price change and in general companies trying to make more money when really what the horse & carriage offered was good enough for many back then but like most things that force change, it's not met with a humble hug but with resistance and as I said before; I would rather the simple life but progress and the lust for profits will breed a change in gaming from the universal appeal of a open PC, and free and open access ( open roads ) to toll roads and taxes.

Good luck on stopping the future and succeeding in this endeavor - just don't bet the farm on it.

I know your type well, the non-conformist purist (for those who don't know, people who aren't like everybody else and HATE change).

Sorry to burst your bubble, but MS is beginning to totally revamp your PC experience, and there is nothing you can do to stop it.

- Every year, more PC developers will sign contracts to support the "Games for WIndows" branding

- Every year, more developers will sign contracts to support "Games for Windows LIVE"

- You believe that PC = freedom, and 360 = bars? So you have something against bringing PC games to 360? How dare you! You are sitting there and telling me that you don't want to make a great PC game available to people that don't game on a PC, or worse, don't have a powerful enough PC? Shame on you, for it is good to expand the audiences so the most can enjoy the game.

You are clearly a closed-minded person who lives in blissful ignorance of the old days, refusing to see what's infront of him now. You still get a great PC game, what's wrong about making it available to more people?

Have fun in 3 years when every PC game is a "Games for Windows".

Lemmings are like the poor borthers of hermits. Hermits eat goie gras and drink champagne. Lemmings eat hot pockets and drink kool aidthe_h_bomb

If that's true I wouldn't want to know the meals that cows and sheep are fed.

Have fun in 3 years when every PC game is a "Games for Windows".

ok, im looking at my games collection, here are some games for windows games, Crysis,Gears of War, World in Conflict, The Witcher, Lord of the Rings online, Company of heroes to name a few. How many of these games support Windows Live? 1.. Yes 1, Gears of War. How many of these games Has microsoft had any influence on? 1 yes 1, Gears of War. Microsoft PAY the devs to use Games for Windows. They ask the devs to sell them an inch of box art space to advertise, THATS IT

SecretPolice

That'd be interesting, if it was the PC that was dying, and not the traditional console. Take a look at the finance sheets of Intel, nVidia, and their board partners. PC gaming, PC hardware *in general* is thriving. The beauty of it is that we're *not* tied to one company, or one way of thinking. I have friends who happily game on their Apple computers - there's no visual difference between a gamer logging into WoW using Windows, Apple OS, or Linux variant. PC gaming is fluid beyond anything a traditional console could hope to achieve. PC gaming is, however, always in a state of flux - it changes, we're shifting into digital distribution, MMO / subscription, and ad-supported gaming, with an ever growing indie scene playing to every imaginable niche.

In fact, the only two platforms that have succeeded, by which I mean having a financial return that guarantees future investment - are the Wii and the PC. In other words, two radically different directions - one platform with infinite flexbility and fluidity, capable of many tasks, but higher in cost and complexity - another focused heavily on intuitive gaming, placing ease-of-use, cost, and "fun factor" before all other functions.

Inbetween we have the "HD consoles", which have fallen into a struggle for third place, ultimately limited to the same narrow audience the Xbox held, with only the PS3 showing hints of the creativity and "mass appeal" that may give it a chance to claw above a global minority. Of course (especially in the USA) we will see the "consolite" viewpoint emerge, in which there is a level of denial about th realities of the global success of this "traditional console".

-

So, while you are welcome to cling to a comforting (though entirely incorrect) analogy, I'd suggest taking a deeper look at the gaming world. Microsoft's sitting in the console seat only because they hope to be your only gateway to media - seeking profitability by eliminating choice, and restricting movement of purchased content to othervendor's hardware.

I don't ever recall seeing a Microsoft Brand PC being the standard platform of PC's being used worldwide.

Well, no. Except for the fact they have their own special hardware failures, RRoD and Blue screen
