I have to say, I've heavily played online games on PC. One look at my xfire profile and that's very obvious. I've played every online game out there I can think of. My Xbox I have played many online games as well and played a lot of COD4 online at my friends house.
Guess what, all the players online have the same immaturity, gasp shock....
I might even go as far as to say Xbox live gamers are a bit more mature in my findings, I can find a nice friendly group of guys in Halo who'll offer to team up, pwn people, then add me as a friend and play again tomorrow. PC gaming, good luck asking to team up without being called a 'noob'
Today in CSS I was in a de_dust2 game playing as I usually do, my rank is pretty high on this server and I go a lot. All of a sudden three kids come in an just start mouthing of the n word, a racial ephitet for hispanic people, and just saying really weird sexual positions.
Sound familiar? No this isn't Xbox live, THIS IS CSS A WIDELY PLAYED PC GAME. That doesn't just happen once to, it happens all the time. I come across pissy admins as well, pissy players, annoying squad mates, awful commands in Battlefield 2, and people who love to TK in PC gaming.
Of course Xbox live isn't much better, I come across the same people
Conclusion: PC gaming and Xbox live have the same types of stupid people, get over it. PC online is not special and neither is Xbox live.
I can't speak for PSN cause I never played it, but PS3 people feel free to comment!

Your overall point is true, but you know what you find on PC gaming that's not on Xbox Live? -- Competition.
You can't look at me with a straight face and tell me you see more immature people on the pc than live.
A perfect example is team fortress 2 compared to halo 3, for the pc and 360 respectively.
I will almost never see an immature person on team fortress 2, and if one does indeed come, they'll be kicked and banned by the admins immediately, unlike halo 3, where I have to deal with it.

Thank you, exactly the example I used. Just got done with 3 hrs of it, not one issue.

You don't have to deal with it. Mute is a fairly simple option.

On XBL Halo 3 and GeOW are the only games ive even been called a n****r and a f****t, and plenty of other colourful names.
Its also plauged by kids who constantly screech, and love to rap in their mics.
Which is why I only play with friends on XBL.
Contrast I always play on Pub servers with PC games... As I have been for many many years.
As someone who plays TF2 on PC (a lot) and has played a TON of Halo 3 on Live I've gotta ask...what you are smoking? It shouldn't even be compared. Xbox Live is ten times worse than on ANY PC game.Zoso-8Not to sound cocky but if TF2 is the only game you play on PC, you don't know as much as me. I've PC gamed online for 10 years of my life, esentially since I was 6 years old. I've played almost every popular online game that ever came out, just look at my profile. This isn't my only one by the way.

I have played many online games ect. ect. ect. Ive been playing on XBL for over a year and ive had more insults and met some of the worst behaved people on any online game, than in my 11 years of PC online gaming.
Besides XBL is well known for its 'colourful' and 'less mature' audience.
Sure there are plenty of PC games that can have such people playing them, e.g. Counter Strike, but still ive been playing CS since the first HL1 beta and GeOW beat it in the first week I had played it. I got called a n****r amoung other things, in the first week.

i dunno what TC is smoking..on pc online gaming i rarely run into childish crap like name calling...on xbox live..you're lucky if you go a game without hearing racial comments

And PC servers deal with it instantly (provided your on a good server) a kick+ban.
open mike = kids playing music into and breathing like a pervert down a microphone. Annoying as hell when some pre-teen postule decides that everybody should recognise that they have an extremely under-developed taste in music and have a blatent lack of respect for other people's race or way of life with the "N" word and "british word for ciggarette" used more time than most people care to blink, its not hard to see why people dislike the foul mouthed demographic that populate open-mike servers.hongkingkong
I cant help but wonder where the parents are and if these are the same parent that blame games for the child's behaviour.
I also know that some of those kids are here right now..
>.>
It really depends on what you play. Counter-strike source and Battlefield 2 can get somewhat bad on alot of servers. On the other hand though, alot of servers have an administrator, who can deal with people like that.
WoW also has HORRIFIC people on PVP and on PVE servers occasionally. I found a really cool secret though, it's called RP servers, those have the nicest communities in any game I have ever played, the community alone kept me playing for a couple years.
Anyway, Im kind of sick of online games in general, I mostly play single player games or local multiplayer games these days, but when I do pop in a game of Halo or CoD, etc in XBL, I usually regret it. Maybe I have the worst luck in the world, but it's usually me being in a good mood, popping in the game and coming out with a migraine. Most PC games I play on the other hand.... well, alot of clans use teamspeak and there isn't as much communication. I also notice people just... play the game and have fun.
[QUOTE="FragTycoon"]vote-kick ftw! I was really surprised that CoD4 didn't include it :?skrat_01Does so on PC.
Vote-kick tends to be abused heavily on XBL, 2+ people who are feuding will constantly vote kick each other and it will pretty much never pass, so it just spams everyone in the server 24/7.
the kids on xbl and the hermits with headsets share numerous qualities: they are all bigots, have squeeky voices, yell into the mic, live in their parents' basements, are out of touch with the real world, and act like immature 12 year olds.
the only difference between the kids on xbl and the hermits with headsets is that the kids on xbl actually are twelve years old while the hermits are twenty years older. :|
PC gaming is not special. But you better than most on here should know by now(just by looking at your gaming history on xfire) that PC gaming is not the same as Xbox Live. When you play those niche games online such as TF2 you'll see just how much the PC gaming comunity shines as opposed to the Xbox Live Community. I play both and can easily/honestly say that in maturity PC gaming trumps Xbox Live. It's not to say that it's non existent but it's far less of a problemO_Lineman17the tf2 community on xbl might be the nicest community with everyone having voice chat ever quite frankly.

And I've been gaming for more than 15 years. It's fun to compare. :PI'd say that the only reason why people think that there are more kids on XBL is because each one gets a headset. It's much harder to hear people "whine" through a keyboard. The ones that do have headsets often exhibit the same behaviors of the stereotype 12 year old XBL users.
In both the XBL community and many PC online communities, you have to filter through the crap to get to the people who want to play for the same reasons you do.

Though yea on XBL you give everyone a headest, and it is the only form of communication. Thus what was initially a huge benefit, has turned into a real double edged sword of destruction. Another problem is the demographic.... Much of XBL is populated by 'less mature' gamers honestly.... Not saying there are PC games that arent (ahem CS and WoW), but yeah because XBL has such a focus on a certain few games its ever present.
