Sorry to interrupt your War of Worldcraft arguments, but I asked my girlfriend to buy me a PS3 for my birthday. All I play are sports games and the occasional first or third person shooter. The PS3 is more expensive, but seems more durable. I've had my PS2 for about ten years, and still play it with no problem whatsoever. My Xbox, on the other hand, has had to be fixed a couple of times since I've had it... And I played Madden 09 for 360 and absolutely hated the controls. Had a difficult time hot routing, with audibles, changing players, and overall executing button management since I'm so immune to Sony, etc.
I suppose my question is which system should I buy? I know the 360 is cheaper, and has a wider selection of games, but I am playing sports games 90% of the time which I assume are all multi-platform, so if there is a shooter game or two that could keep me occupied in the meantime, I see no reason in asking for the 360 instead. I heard the new Socom games suck ass, but maybe they have fixed it with patches? I absolutely love the Socom games on PS2, and I can play the COD type games on my PC. So, Xbox nerds, why would the 360 be better for me, personally? And PS3 nerds, what shooter/action games are worth buying? Also, being forced to pay for online play is also a major bummer.
And don't get offended, I am a nerd, too. :)
