Its expected next gen. Sony is only one of many companies that made bluray, those other companies would get the majority of the profit. It wont stop ps3 from falling this gen.
Wasn't Microsoft working on their own competitor to Blu-Ray? I honestly doubt Microsoft would pay their competitor just to get more disc space that won't even be used.

Anyways, didn't original Blu-Ray players require Microsoft's VC-1 codecs meaning that Sony was actually paying Microsoft for the ability to use their software. This might have changed since but I believe that was the case early on. Either way, who cares?!

then in that case you can have 3+ disc based games, plus blu-ray speed will pick up so you wont have to install every game. I guess everybody wins:D
