Hi Im new, why does the xbox one cost more than ps4?

It can't be because of the mandatory kinect? Because nobody really wants that anyway. So why is the xbox one more? Thanks in advance.

Pretty much because of the Kinect. While people on the internet aren't a huge fan of the Kinect, the thing did sell like 20+ million on the Xbox 360. There is a huge market for it and Microsoft wants to exploit that. Having Kinect come standard with the console could also enable developers to more freely use it. It's got some neat things going for it, but I still think it's a gimmick.

Actually, A LOT of people do want the new Kinect. Whether the uber 1337 gamoRZ of the interwebs want to admit it, millions of people enjoy the games available via Kinect. These tend to be the same people who also have better things to do than spend copious amounts of time on videogame forums. This is likely where your incorrect assumption is coming from.

Also, the Xbox One costs $100 more because it can. Period. If it is deemed that the higher price is costing them too many sales, the price will drop.

Because it comes with Kinect, and MS wants it to be profitable from launch, Sony on the other hand isn't packaging a camera and they're willing to take a loss at launch.

lol no, and actually it became one of the biggest advantages ps4 has, better hardware for less price. Kinect is still a gimmick that shouldn't have been forced into customers, if you want kinect you buy kinect if you dont, dont force people to pay for it.

These are the entertainment features offered by the Xbox One outside of just gaming. With the KInect in every box, this is why you are paying the extra hundred. Its because of these features, but more importantly the MS games, that make me want it more than the more powerful but simple PS4. Its a matter of what you are interested in.

Kinect is there so that they can catch you in compromising situations (which of course EVERYBODY seems to do in front of their TV that they are fully aware has a camera attached). They will then blackmail you into giving up such valuable information such as your neighbor's eating and bathroom habits.

This question has been answered. This should be locked. Kinect is $100 more whether you want it or not.

PS4 would've been $500 if they included the PS Eye

but they didn't, because gimmicks should be optional instead of forcing you to pay for it so you can make ad revenue.

Its basically because of the kinect which I people still say they don't want or at least they should be given a choice which I agree with but Ms is trying to be forward thinking. All day I see commercials about Tv's, phones and tablets with voice and visual recognition and that's what MS is banking on. people are saying that they don't want it and the usual explanation is without it bundled developers and app programmers will not use it. What MS should of did was lower the price to match PS4 and it would do a lot better than it is now

The PS3 had an awful first 2-3 years so what exactly is your point? I have actually played the games you listed aside from tales of xillia and they were all good aside from god of war ascension which was terrible but the 360 has a great libary too it's just overlooked because of cow hyperbole.

A no gameplay Ryse trailer? Its a 900p -30fps game that will get very low reviews o.O

xboxone = lower performance and lower gfx and less games.
