Come on Sony what you doing, why you keep shooting yourself when you on top of the gaming world?

Seems like the whole bombshell inside PlayStation Empire refocusing on AAA blockbuster titles (reported by Jason Schreier) was the likely cause of so many ex PlayStation staff joining other studios most notable being The Initiative at Xbox or creating brand new studios like what happened to Sony Japan Studios staff.

My Bloodborne 2 dream.... Shuhei Yoshida was reported discussing with From Software few years back and now Shuhei is shoved to Indie development whatever title that is and long time Sony Japan Studio producer Masami Yamamoto who produced Bloodborne also leaving. Idk who will be the guy that does all the collabs now for Japan Studios, not only Bloodborne 2 but my dreams of Dark Cloud 3...

Come on Sony, why you keep killing yourself like this. It happened with PS3 when everyone thought Sony was unstoppable and I am hoping it does not repeat itself.

@Nonstop-Madness: sure but they are making the games they want to do. Sony used to have this thing where they let their studios "do their own thing" but the whole bluckbuster refocus probably ended that whole myth. Kind of ironic xbox right now is using the old sony template.

The next 2-3 years are going to be buriful lol.

Microsoft has had so many games cooking since 2017-2018 by this point. And Sony pretty much emptied the whole clip last year and many of their next projects are YEARS away.

Nothing from NaughtyDog will touch the PS5 before 2024 outside of ancillary projects. Certainly not a "mainline" TLOU-level game. And Cows have the nerve to not let lems hype fucking Elder Scrolls, Avowed, or Perfect Dark? Or Starfield, which is rumored to be dropping this fucking year lol.

Its going to be a bloodbath over the next few years. They simply mathmatically will not have the output to match Microsofts. Sony only has like 5 of their studios dedicated to blockbuster AAA games, and those studios all have LONG lead/turnaround times, and most of them have recently come off of big projects.

No need to worry as Sony will just moneyhat most of the big Japanese games anyway like they've done for the past 2 decades lol.

They’re also spending a ton of money on mobile. Gotta fund those movie games some kinda way...

We don't know what happened. I think MS just offered more money to poach talent. MS is going to be a blockbuster factory too, so I don't see what would be different.

Sony hasn't been on top of the gaming world since early on in the PS4's life cycle. After the mid-gen point of last generation, fp Sony titles dried up and trickled out at a slow pace. Since then they've flopped and floundered and made poor decisions regarding everything they do in the gaming realm.

Now they're cutting out niche studios and absorbing them in to AAA dev teams. No more AA games from Sony like Gravity Rush and Sly Cooper. They're being completely short-sided though, as AAA blockbusters take a LOT OF TIME to make, so expect tons of droughts, expensive games that are few and far between, but not an answer to Microsoft's Game Pass.

Seems like every day there's less and less reason to buy a PS5.

I never understood why gamers focus on the mobility of individuals between companies.

I know the Japanese ones will continue to sell out for Sony's money.
